Meditation craziness
Meditation craziness
Okay - so, I have been macroing resist on a new mage character.
I have just reached GM resist.
GM resist takes a long time to attain.
My meditation is at 99.
My macro attempts to meditate pretty much non-stop from the point of casting a spell (If mana>40).
Why is my meditation at 99?
How can I GM meditation?
I can't believe I am asking this... Wow... NEA!!

Re: Meditation craziness
**Edit** If you saw my original response... I think I read this wrong.
Anyway... set it to cast something like lightening everytime you have enough mana to do so, then have it meditate immediately after and loop. On my characters, the key was to get the loop to cause my character to meditate at 0-1 mana every time. I suggest something like lightening only cause you can re-build the mana and cast faster than flame strike.

Re: Meditation craziness
Sorry brother no idea then. I had it run when I hit in that range and I was GM meditation LONG before resist.
I know you play a good bit and hate to state the obvious... skill cap somewhere?
Good luck,
Jimmy

Re: Meditation craziness
I have always understood it as...
Character Intelligence - Meditation Skill = Mana you should meditate at to gain.
It's easy to achieve that range when your med is higher. For those last few points, the window of mana you can gain from is so small it takes longer.
My bad if I am just stating the obvious. I did it a few months ago using that formula.

Re: Meditation craziness

This tells you when to cast. If you aren't casting, you should be spamming med. I can honestly GM meditation from 0 while working magery from 50 to 75-85. If you already GM'd your magery just gather nightshade and poison your spellbook repeatedly while adhering to the above formula.
Re: Meditation craziness
I've GMed resist on about 8 characters now and I've always GMed meditation far before GMing resist. Sounds like your macro is correct - Are you sure there's not some rogue skill (wrestling, hiding, macing come to mind) that's holding a measly 1 point that's preventing you from gaining? Look in Razor and check the base values.
Re: Meditation craziness
I already have my last 1 point turned to down.
I don't understand Matron's formula but I'm medding with mana anywhere under 10 - is that right?

Re: Meditation craziness
I got to GM from 99 pretty fast with this macro:
If mana > 9
cast poison
wait for target
target self
pause 1 second
else
meditation
end if
thx

Re: Meditation craziness
Useskill: Meditation
Cast Spell: Poison
Wait for target
Absolute target (whatever you want to use)
Set "Wait for target" to "timeout" = 1
That will spam casting poison AND meditation
Should work

Re: Meditation craziness
exec flamestrike
exec target self
else
exec meditation
i run this once i hit 90 med and i am casting flame strike. i have gmed meditation first every time using this since being told about it. That means you can be fairly lax on adjusting your macros for meditation gains while doing lightning and ebolt every 5.0 gain or so on those spells. Yes its spams like hell. Yes its dangerous with 0 health check. Why does this work? because it endlessly spams med. Well what about the 0 hp check problem? Because my caster usually doesn't have gm eval as a result then 1 healer every 6 seconds is fine semi attended, or the the caster is casting on a different target if they don't need resist. This Also works because its only 4 iterations per loop and its spamming med faster then you can passively regen if you are 99 med with 100 int you want to be using med at like 0-5 (tops) even lower if you have 90 int. if you feel this macro is to dangerous and you chose to do the poison thing because none of your alts need resist around the flame strike level. in your current situation then well hinder your med by wearing a studded leather chest or some other ar and make sure when med is being execute you are at like 0-5 mana or less. Lastly the less lines in the macro the better and the faster the loops and the better it will be executing med when it should be.

Re: Meditation craziness
since you prolly gm'd magery too, try adding armor like ringmail legs to hinder passive med
