The Tale of Arkos of Sparta!

Post by Avo »

A long time ago on a distant world where men and gods clashed against one another there was a man who was the last amongst the immortals. His name was Arkos, a warrior who no man could surpass in skill with a spear or a bow. Given that his mother was a god he was reputed to have uncanny strength and some magic abilities. Though not all was well, and Arkos was doomed to face a terrible fate for his birth was forbidden.
Arkos was the child of Artemis and Ardonis the king of Sparta at the time. During this time the gods had given up on mankind and had forbade any god to interact with the humans. Long had passed the time of Greek heroes of legend. But rules were meant to be broken, and Artemis did just that when she seduced the young handsome king of Sparta into her bed. As a result Artemis became pregnant with child. As a god Artemis had no problem disguising the fact that she was pregnant by using her powers. However she would eventually give birth and then the gods would see she had been meddling with humans.
So the patron goddess of Sparta conceived a plan and with a little help from the king's wife she was sure to hide her birth. Artemis convinced the king's wife Lesora, to become pregnant as well, then when the time came they would both give birth. In return for this favor she would grant Lesora a lifetime of young beauty Artemis' child would be given to Lesora, meanwhile her child would be secretly killed and thrown over the cliff. The plan worked when the time came to give birth and that is how the child who would be known as Arkos came to be.
All was working out well, Arkos was now a young man and Lesora was the age of 65 and still looking no more then 25. The word of her lasting beauty spread until it reached the ears of the gods themselves. Zeus himself went down to Sparta and confronted Lesora about her beauty. At first the queen said nothing, but after Zeus displayed his almighty powers and threatened to kill her, she was quick to finger Artemis and as a result the fact that Arkos was her child.
In his rage, Zeus kidnapped Arkos in the dead of night and summoned Artemis to his hall on mount Olympus. When Artemis arrived she knew she was in trouble when she laid eyes on her son. Instantly she pleaded on his behalf saying it was not his fault he shouldn't have to suffer. Zeus looked upon his daughter with pity and said he would not slay the young Greek hero, but he had to punish him to teach Artemis a lesson.
Zeus then opened up a portal and cast Arkos into it. He told Artemis he cast her son onto another world where magic and other heroes of great skill exist, both good and evil. There his skills as a Greek hero will mean little and he will have to rely on his whits as a demi-god. He will however have the aid of Hephaestus' hammer, so he may always be protected by the armor and weapons of the god of the forge. May he find safety and friend there.
Arkos was now on this strange land reffered to as Sosaria. The city he landed in was unknown to him, and the folks around him spoke a strange tounge, using words like "lol" and "leet" - most of the words were lost upon Arkos, until a stranger hailed him over. Traveler, it seems yee be from ah' distant land dressed up in dat there armor lad, yee must be one o' us "roleplayers". F'llow me lad, an ah'shall recruit yee intah me guild where yee can feel more at home at the "Role Players United" guild matey. Strangely enough Arkos could understand every word this strange sailor was saying. After some traveling Arkos was intoduced to Akwa, the grandmaster of "Role Players United" and was quickly made a member.
Now a new chapter begins in his life as he tries to search out more people who share his common goal and tongue so adventures could be more rewarding.
