New Character Smith

Im making a smith i all ready have a tank mage and tamer/bard. so what skills would be useful with a smith. also where is the best place for a smithy to start off at. I would appreciate some advice. :D

Blacksmithing would be useful for sure. And I would start in Britain or Minoc. Britain if you want clients and thieves. Minoc if you want access to mountains and ore.

I started mine in minoc. Its a miners paradise. Lots of mountain access and close to town and bank. As well as smith vendors that are close. But like Ronk said, not many ppl there.

You want mining on your blacksmith's template for sure. Higher mining results in higher ingot gain when smelting items. If you want the cheapest (but also the slowest) way of GMing smithing, is GMing mining first, then work smithing and smelt all the stuff you make while you raise skill.

I like to have arms lore on my smith because I can see if items really need repairing, or if I'll only be hurting it's total HP's.

The rest are really up for grabs, I complemented mine with carpentry, tinkering and tailoring just for the sake of having a rather complete crafter. The rest is basically magery to move around...need to raise it to be able to make abbatoirs and pentagrams, but I'm in no real hurry.
