Starting from scratch. What template?
Starting from scratch. What template?
Would a blacksmith or a tamer be a better start?
Re: Starting from scratch. What template?
starting from scratch, a bard is your best bet.
out of your2 choices, id do mining to fund training your tamer.
there is a big demand for ingots and not a lot of people selling them it seems

What sort of other resources are people in high demand of? Regs being one I know for sure but that would come later.

You are allowed to have 3 clients. I realized Downs suggested ingots which is a good recommendation. I know Yomega is buying iron ore for 16gp a pop. However, I had my success starting here by creating a lumberjacker/fletcher and macro making bows on one client. Macroing music and provoke on the other. Finally, on the last available client you should macro up a tank mage or dexxer.

If I were going to make a bard could someone recommend a build?

If you have no desire to play a bard you should make a dex bard as it's cheaper and faster. Don't spend too much money on your first char built to make money. You're just working against yourself.
Re: Starting from scratch. What template?
All good answers. There are many ways to start to be honest. My first character was a swords dexxer. Easy to make and you can actually play on day one. For someone like myself who hadn't played UO in a long time it was an easy way to re-familiarize myself with the map and monsters as I ran around overland. Run around to cotton fields and pens and shear any sheep you see out in the woods. Run around a dense forest like Ocllo or Windmere and you won't hardly see anyone so little danger. Sure the money's not as good as a bard but you will make some money to fund that first small and/or regs for your mage on another character. Just another option...
