Ships and some interresting facts

Post by SirLanceAlittle »

I found a few interresting facts about Ships and decided I wanted to share what I found. So, here goes:

I. When I made a copy of my ship's master key, that copy gave me all the same rights that the master key does with one exception. The copy of the ship's key cannot be used to Recall to the ship.

II. When provoking, casting spells, or shooting arrows/bolts from the deck of my locked ship, creatures (npc's) can get on-board if the bow of the ship is too close to the shore. I found this out the hard way when a Dragon boarded my ship while at Wyvern Island.

III. While my toon was hidden at the stern of my ship, a PK'er was able to cast an Energy Vortex (EV) on my ship which killed me virtually instantly. My ship was locked and I was hidden, and yes, I was afk. I am assuming that the PK'er either first cast Reveal or EV's are able to Reveal anyone hidden. Anyone know if Blade Spirits can be placed on a locked ship as well, or just EV's?

That's about it. I look forward to hearing any other interresting facts concerning ships.

Safe Travels

Ships are made of wood.

Ships can be used to traverse bodies of water that are large enough for a ship to be placed on.

(Your notes were interesting and useful, but I couldn't resist a stupid joke.)

some times parts of land is on a diff axis and it allows monsters to get on if the tip of the ship is in the right spot. And when ur hidden most the time ppl cast reveal or detect and shoot u with arrows or cast a ev. and to block evs u need to place foot stools.

I thought EVs cast Mass Curse, centered on themselves, so they Curse anyone adjacent to them. So, this would make you autodefend against the EV, which reveals yourself.

Anyone know if items left on a ship's deck decay at the same rate as items left on the ground? I think they do decay, as I used a couple of crates, located on the port and starbord side of the mast, to keep anything that got onto the bow from reaching the stern. The next time I recalled to my ship, I was attacked by a Sea Serp. and one of the crates was destroyed, leaving a small puile of the crate's contents on the deck. I am unsure as to whether the Sea Serp. actually destroyed the crate or the crate just finally decayed. After dispatching the Sea Serp., I quickly put the remaining crate in the ship's hold. So, does anyone have any accurate info. on this particular subject?

Items on deck decay the same as items unlocked in a house (bodyparts, etc. decay, most things do not). Mobs can break items on adjacent tiles if they attempt to move in that direction -- i'd suggest using bags/backpacks/pouches if for no other reason than being EV/BSd and making a mess. Also, these items (and any others within 2 tiles of water) could potentially be looted.
