ability to be completely immune to magic?

I was doing a little bit of brit graveyard PvP (the noob that i am) when i noticed a player named "Caine" that was gray. When i attacked him with harm, I did a little bit of damage, but about 15 seconds later when i hit him with Energy Bolt, it had no effect. I hit him multiple times with a fury of energy bolts, explosions, and lightnings, and none of them had caused any damage to him whatsoever. there was no way that he could have thrown a bandage on himself because there were many attacks within 20 seconds. there was also no way that he had another player there to heal him, as there were only four people there, and none of them were healing him, but attacking him.

I was a moron for not taking any screenshots...
