My First PK

On the shard two days, getting into the swing of things, working up skills on a char in a dungeon and I see a red name pop up.

I think to myself, well I might at least survive 2 hits... Nah, I think it was one. I die, I grinned, I knew it was only a question of time. My only ugh was thinking I have to find a way to get ressed and work at getting back another few meager items.

But, The Red ressed me, healed me and looted nothing but my gold.

I salute you my first red, Moriarity, you broke me back into the game as gentle as one could ask.

Cool PK's are about a 50/50 split here. Some will Rez you and not leave you high and dry without a way to get back to town save running half way around the world, and some will kill you, your horse, and loot those two feathers you had on your corpse.

First time I was PK'd was by Population Kontrol, they gangbanged me after about a 3 minute chase with 4 people but they rez'd me and only took my gold.

As soon as you can get some recall scrolls and a rune marked in your favorite town and set a macro to use that scroll. Wrestling and magic reflection will also give you a better chance to get away with your hard earned gold.

Good for you getting out and about, that's how I did it too. Trained my Swordsmanship by getting out there fighting monsters. Nice way to earn some coin while having fun! I stayed overland though, while I was learning the way of the sword.

You know I sat there at the "murder count" screen and decided not to give one.
I wasn't sure if there was stat loss here for them or not.



*grins* But might as well get back into the swing by learning how to die first eh? So back into the dungeon I went.

Ran into my second my PK as a monster is wailing on me, One E-Bolt I have like 10 health left and the PK just stops..

I shrug to myself, LOS the mob and start to heal next to the PK. He just watches me for a few moments then recalls.

I believe he must have thought, "wow one ebolt and this poor guy almost dies... too easy"

So Mr Red who I shall not name in case you don't want to be known in anyway as a decent fellow - I salute your desire for better fights!

I've had similar experiences with PKs as well.
I was some far distance from a resser, and he opened a gate for me to go back to town so I could res faster.

These people create the fine line of just "pking" and "griefing"

If a red rezzes you and gives you some ways to get restocked, that means you will be back farming faster, which means more gold for the red

Eh, if you have high karma and fame I would be suspicious of being ress killed to get that step closer to Dread Lord.

reds cant have karma titles

they can have -10,000 karma. but just by ressing people and killing rats you will stay at about -6,000 or so.

Ah ha! Good point on the red helping you to get back to farming faster.. Whats that old quote, "Dead elves pay no tribute!"

And a little update, now around 90 health and learned the joy of the recall macro.. 4 more reds, no deaths.. for now at least until I get cocky enough to think, 'maybe I can take em!'

I gota admit nothing gets the heart pumping faster then a red name poping up on your screen!


I have noticed twice now a ghost pop up before the red comes, that multi client ghost check ability is kinda... odd.

And I am still curious, is there Stat loss in this era for reds?
