duel & fight people and as you fight you will most probably learn by watching/participating.

there is a guide in the UOSA wiki, look up "pvp"

A place you can practice is the trammel events that pop up a few times a day with the red moongates by town banks.

You will not lose regeants or gear so you can play around as a dexer with your best stuff or as a mage trying spell combos etc.

I havn't done a lot of these yet but it's a good way to PVP with little risk.

When I was learning PvP here, I just left a character logged on test all the time. You will find people to fight/duel there. The problem with trammel tourns is you will undoubtedly lose in the first round, every time and learn nothing.

train a character, get in irc (link at top of the page) and ask people for duels/fights. let them know you're new.

cast spell recall
wait for target
absolute target

No, seriously now... test is good for training timing with explosion pots, hally cycles, template ideas, tactics and lots of other things depending on what kind of skills you are working with in your build.

Setting your targets, spells, bandages, items (bandages, in hand, arm/disarm,potions etc) is probably the first thing to do by assigning them to hotkeys. The reason test is good for this is because you will constantly be using them to get acquainted with them and their placement.

I been lazy so I haven't been doing this myself since I been back so I find myself forgetting where I set everything and it has caused me to make a few mistakes already.

But you can try making macros like a teleport recall macro that waits for you to manually target the teleport before it begins to cast recall etc. Lots of macros and really if you think about it most macros in the pvp/play in general area are guarded or have yet to be made.

The Thirsty Clam has a staff member who will help you hone your pvp skills. It is just outside the Trinsic Guard zone, on the beach south of town. Look for posts about it here to learn the schedule.
