Perma red was actually relatively popular and widely discussed in original 2nd Age...it was "bad a$$"

Re: Ping-Pong the Non Stat Red...
O-tay it's like this for anyone who cannot get what I am saying.
If a grey pops on screen there is a good chance the guy is a thief. But how many murderers are there that are?
And as long as you pop a disguise kit (assuming you have no counts and readmitted to the guild as a perma red), well you pretty much leave people guessing as to who you are and what you are capable of.
Keeping your compadre healed until you are attacked keeps you from getting a count allowing you to remain in the guild...and chances are in the midst of battle it will mostly go unnoticed your target is losing his things at first once he takes a swipe at you.
Alot of thieves who venture out into the field are subject to taking a count now and then if they want to do more then nab something and jet out.
Going Perma and keeping your counts low, macroing them off as much as possible who cares? If you are a thief that is kicked out of the npc guild you WANT them to feel they can attack you first. Get what I am saying? Going grey, you have to flag all the time to get that kind of disrespect
Also People recall away from PKs all the time so you can chase them and take a nab at their stuff as they recall away out of fear rather then you trying to do the same instead. Because we all know thieves usually run and players try to get them as they try to escape, this way you pull a role reversal.
It's all psyche.
Originally this was begun to show that perma red status can be used for "blue pks" to retain their murderer status without ever suffering statloss. But the noteriety thief is another example.
