UO Second Age Online Streaming Radio REPLY W/ YOUR IDEAS
I hope to create a radio station devoted to this shard and the interests of all the wonderful players in the not too distant future. It would give us all something to listen to other than footsteps and theme music we've heard a billion times!
PLEASE REPLY WITH YOUR IDEAS FOR SHOWS. THE MORE THE MERRIER. IDEAS WILL BE VOTED ON TO DECIDE PROGRAMMING, SO THIS IS FOR YOU!
Each show will be one hour in length. The programming will extend to 8 hours. This is A WORK IN PROGRESS:

1 hour of "trash talk" (Weekly)
1 hour of "Newbie's Guide to UOSA" (Static)
1 hour of "Templates in Depth" (Weekly)
1 hour of "Boat Adventures" (Weekly)
1 hour of "Guild Wars" (Weekly)
1 hour of "Announcements/News" (Variable)Shard rules, etc.

Re: UO Second Age Online Streaming Radio REPLY W/ YOUR IDEAS
Are you really going to put all that effort in it?

Re: UO Second Age Online Streaming Radio REPLY W/ YOUR IDEAS
It's a great deal more productive than putting "effort" into a reply like that. If you do not like it you do not have to listen to it.Populus wrote:Are you really going to put all that effort in it?
Provided that the online streaming radio station was amusing I would listen and love to take part.
I think a 'call in' show would be cool, and a T2A-era nostalgia section would be cool too.
Do you remember the old T2A online streaming radio shows? I can't remember their names now, but they were actually quite clever and funny.
Re: UO Second Age Online Streaming Radio REPLY W/ YOUR IDEAS
I like this idea, there is so much culture, history, and so many "incidents" on UOSA that I don't think there would be any trouble at all finding material for a show. I also think there are a multitude of personalities on Second Age which could contribute to this.Populus wrote:Are you really going to put all that effort in it?
I voted maybe though, because in response to Populous' question above; I think this requires a collaboration of players on the shard, so that all the weight of it don't fall on one mans back.

"The text in this article or section may be incoherent or very hard to understand, and should be reworded if the intended meaning can be determined."
Re: UO Second Age Online Streaming Radio REPLY W/ YOUR IDEAS
It wasn't intended as a flame at all. Just that I'd hate to see it to collapse. Because I think it's a fun idea.

Re: UO Second Age Online Streaming Radio REPLY W/ YOUR IDEAS
It will be a Shoutcast server distributed to the Roku box network (>1 million potential audience) and any other network I can get it on to for free. Direct "listen live" link to the server will be available. I have plenty of bandwidth for it and a mixer console I just need a good quality microphone (which I will purchase soon). For interviews we'll probably stick with Skype for ease of use and my own privacy lol I haven't decided as to whether make the stream 32kbps in support of those using dialup (most probable) or fewer 128kbps streams offering higher quality. I think we will probably go with 32 and cap it at 300 max listeners.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE OR HELP WITH THE CONTENT OF THE STATION PLEASE LIST YOUR TECHNICAL OR CREATIVE EXPERIENCE IN YOUR REPLY. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HOST YOUR OWN SHOW PLEASE PM ME AND I WILL REQUEST A DEMO RECORDING FROM YOU.
The hardest and most time consuming part is the editing of shows, so I may be only able to offer limited support in terms of enhancement but I have tips and resources that will assist you in making your show a quality one.
#1 download Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ and then download the LAME Mp3 codec by following the instructions at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/fa ... m=lame-mp3
If you want good quality sound from your voice on your show I suggest you buy either Yamaha mw10c mixboard or an Alesis "multimix" series mixer on Amazon, they generally go for $100. Alternatively buy the budget-oriented Alesis MicLink AudioLink Series XLR-to-USB Cable for around $50 or Blue Microphones Icicle XLR to USB Mic Converter/Mic Preamp if using a 48v phantom power microphone. THEN get a Sennheiser e845. It's $100 but your voice will always sound good and it will always cancel any noise in your environment so you don't have to worry too much about acoustics.
If you are interested in investing in your own show's music I suggest taking a look at www.smartsound.com and going to their "royalty free music" section. This is not free music but it is of high quality. Richard Band vol 8 Heroic Adventure might be fitting, for instance. If you get one of the multitrack CDs LET ME KNOW and I will assist you in determining good "carts" for your show.
I do not wish to take away from the content of this message board so instead of creating a separate website for news-like content for the station we will have a thread on this board for everyone's convenience.
Thank you for all your interest!
