Re: New guild! Please take the time to read
I am here to regretfully inform conflict with my own time and busy schedule and the demand for this guild. I have had over 10 new individuals interested in joining. Which is great! However, my experience with the first 4 who went through the process took an average of 1 hour per person.
Therefore, if I would continue to go forward with this guild, I would need to either, get more people involved and help distribute resources to the new members. Or really cut down the communication and responsibilities involved with the distrubition process. This basically means, instead of going to get cotton, cutting up bandages, getting regs, armour, weapons, a paldin, explaining how to successfully use razor, and bugging Talemon for a spellbook. I would just co own the new guild member to the house and let them have a place to macro.
Another option is to co own them and give them 7.5k and have them purchase their own resources. This would really save me time, and I could still micromanage this thing.
Obviously, my job and school are more important, so if bad goes to worse, would another group of individuals be interested in taking over?
Thank you.

For all the Very Pretty Trammelites VPT
I want you to put this message in a macro set to a hotkey and see how often it stops you getting killed.
"I am new please don't kill me!"

You were going to find alot of people joining up for all your goodies that's been here awhile if you went through with this trust me.
Guilds are already established to help new players that just don't give them stuff, give them some tips, smack their butts and send them on their way

Re: New guild! Please take the time to read
If it becomes too time consuming limit your time to quick responses and links to proper guides. Though every new player can certainly use a house to macro in and resources, everything you need is here on the boards.
However, what you're doing here is admirable. If you need a helping hand, I'd be willing to offer some of my time (not all of it) to helping new players. I welcome ANY new player to send me a PM here. I check my messages fairly regularly and I am more than happy to offer any advice.
Remember give a man food, he eats for a day. Teach a man to hunt, he eats for a lifetime. As long as he doesn't hunt with Dick Cheney.

Re: New guild! Please take the time to read
I am just against the idea of expecting a guild tag to allow for unmolested hunting, especially in high spawn areas.
You are completely nuts if you think people will let them take over a spot forever.
Plus hoisting a newbie guild tag over their heads is screaming "KICK ME" if they ever accidentally (or on purpose) hit a high end spawn area and think they can just casually rake in a ton of loot without a care in the world.
Sorry, learning to escape and sometimes die trying to without getting weepy eyed and grittly teeth about it is one of the greatest lessons to learn here.
You can have a newbie center, you can have newbie friendly instructors but don't expect people to not play the game.

A few will leave them alone, a great many will treat them no differently, and a select few will harass them more.archaicsubrosa77 wrote:I am just against the idea of expecting a guild tag to allow for unmolested hunting, especially in high spawn areas.

Re: New guild! Please take the time to read
I mentioned this to Fede in irc and he rage quit on me. I was more reasonable than normal.
Why would anyone respect a player implemented (young) status? The goal of the guild shouldn't be to protect new players from the evils of the shard it should be to help prepare and properly expose them to the risks and rewards of various play styles.

Re: New guild! Please take the time to read
perhaps a better way of putting it would have been "These individuals are new to the shard. So please make an effort to refrain from griefing them excessively."

Re: New guild! Please take the time to read

Okay tell you what...they stay out of high end spawn...and they have a time restriction to remain in that guild...as long as they aren't coordinators to it.
If these conditions aren't met, I think everyone should gang up on them to think they can PVM unmolested to their heart's desire indefinately.
*puke*
And anytime those who are permanent in the guild are hunting with others of this guild then they should be considered free game. Don't use newbs as your human shields to farm with.
If you can't do that then you are just a guild trying to mass recruit...that's it. The saintly newb helper message would be garbage then...and would make you a bigger target. I would even attack your members on characters who I would never do such a thing with normally just because this is T2A...the Second Age, and making it something else disgusts me.
To paraphrase...I consider VPT to be attackable when
1.) I feel a member has been involved in it long enough
2.)If a member is assisted by a vet in farming
3.)They are in a high end spawn area
4.) They are afk and need to be taught a lesson in personal security
5.)Any reason that they may, by their actions, make themselves attackable by word or deed

What are your character names?
Re: New guild! Please take the time to read
This is just my opinion, but I agree that survival skills are equally or more important than protection. The best advice I ever got back in 1998 when I began playing was from a random stranger, who sensing I was new told me (and explained how) to bind F1 to "hiding" and as I'm running around exploring the world, stick a quarter in it to hold it down. I agree that in 2011, hiding isn't the skill it used to be, as it's now pretty common for player predators to have the tracking skill; but it was priceless advice at the time.

Most of my characters now are thieves. So that won't help you.Fede wrote:archaicsubrosa77 wrote: What are your character names?
You will see an Archaic though.
What? Are you mad that some people won't let you play Farmville on UO?
How about you list your Pks?
