A few questions from a newbie trying to decide on a shard

Post by SethTersius »

Hey everyone.

I am trying to decide on a shard. I havent played in years and I found a way to play on my phone, so that sealed the deal for me to get back in.

I tend to play a reclusive but kind character who starts out as a merchant, then a thief, then when my skills are high enough to handle the real world I get out and leave my thieving ways behind and become a adventurer. Some things that are important to me:

1. What is the best way to make money? For my first many hours in the game I enjoy doing crafting, and a lot, to buy myself the house I like and secure myself financially.

2. What means are there to sell crafted items to other players? Are there player auctions in the game or only selling via word of mouth by the bank?

3. What are the limits to sneak and lockpick in terms of PvP? Can I lockpick player homes? Are their chests pickable? Like I said this is something I enjoy in my UO experience. I like to play a thief who might get back at the town bully by raiding his house.

4. Anything else I should be aware of with this sort of character in mind?

Thanks for your time.

1. Highly subjective. Its really up to you.

2. Internal auction mechanisms did not exist during the T2A era. You can use the forums, irc, or stand by the bank.

3. Lockpicking houses was before the T2A era. It is not implemented here.

4. There were very few limitations during this era. Have fun!

you can still sneak into peoples houses and take their stuff if they're not careful enough. secure chests have a weight limit, so most chests inside a house will be unsecured and lootable.

2. Also: you can place a vendor, and sell your crafted items on that.

1. I would say in terms of long term money making a tamer. In terms of a getting start gold maker, I would go with a bard with provocation. Easy to make and capable of killing anything in the game.

3. You can pick unsecure chests if they are locked, but, honestly, no one locks their chests. Lockpicking is good for dungeon chests and treasure maps. That's it.

A house looting character needs magery, meditation, hiding, and stealth. Other things are useful, but those four skills are essential.
