How would that help if events are announced by town criers only and are randomized?MatronDeWinter wrote:time pieces, clocks, etc..

The next event will be in X minutes/hours.
You know, for those who don't "bank sit all day".

This would seem to be worse than just NEA - it would require people to buy items to know when events are. It just seems like a bad idea.MatronDeWinter wrote:The next event will be in X minutes/hours.

What exactly is wrong with the current announcement system? The only problem I see is that player ran events are not on the schedule/announced by the irc bot which will probably not always be the case.
We should do more to increase player turn out to all events, auto and player ran rather than try to make it harder or less convenient to know when they are and attend. Though text alerts seem to be out of scope and at the very least a very low priority. With the already available event schedule page a sufficiently motivated player could get texts set to them through their own means.
An RSS feed for events wouldn't be horrible, but even that isn't required to stay up to date on the event schedule.
