I thought that a wizard's hat, gave you 5 more INT (while lowering other stats). I tried it and I see no difference in my stats or mana. Is there a Magical Wizard's Hat, and a normal one? - perhaps I have the wrong one?
If I do have the wrong one, which one do I need, and where can I get it?
Basically, I am trying to temporarily raise my INT on my fighter, so he can cast Flamestrike on himself to gain resist. I could probably use scrolls, but wanted to cast it - Any help?
I searched but could not find an answer to this, although I did find a post from March 2010 which reported it as not working, and then it was fixed?

Check out the mages shop, they sell magical wizard hats that do this.
Yes there are two different types.
Also scrolls require the same mana/int as the spells. They just need less magery to be successful.

You're looking for a Magical Wizard's Hat, which can be bought from any mage at a mage shop for around 17gp.
Scrolls won't make the mana cost of Flamestrike any less, so you will need 40 INT whether you cast from a scroll or from your spellbook via reagents.
By the way... using a fighter to gain resist on yourself is somewhat futile - with their low intelligence and lack of meditation, it takes forever to regain mana. I would definitely advise, if you think you'll ever want to play a mage, to start a second character and get them to 100 INT and high meditation and use that character to energy bolt and then flamestrike your fighter. You could use your fighter to cast on himself, but your gains will take ten times as long (same price in reagents, same number of casts, but much longer waits between casts).

Thanks guys, I bought the correct hat now, and it is working.
I lowered the DEX on my fighter and gained 35 INT, with the hat, he can cast Flamestrike now.
I am also macroing a mage, so that I will have Meditation and more mana. That will help as well.
