If people wanted to play poker all the time, they would somewhere else.

Having it in a player ran establishment would mean it would be on a schedeule, it would be outside a guardzone, and there would be interaction. (It's been done before here, no argument there)

This game isn't just about what certain people like to do, it was made for players to show some creativity.

If you are against that and want to focus on doing nothing but the same things you always do all the time without variation....you have every right to.

Having poker tables in every town I don't think is era accurate however.

Would that not distract me from "playing UO?" - You're sounding as if a large portion of the population would drop their halberds and DP katanas and sit and play poker for the majority of the time!

An event as Matron suggested could be definitely interesting. That would balance the idea of "distracting the players of 'playing uo.'"

The reason I proposed the events ran by NPC's is that player ran tournaments do not happen that frequently. (see 2 am reference in my OP)

And yes, there are plenty of poker sites...But that would cut the websites out of the equation and add a unique positive community orientated feature to the shard.

I like poker, and I like UO. I'd play poker in UO, but I don't think this should be an automated event created by the staff.

$$$ had a set up for poker before. They had some books made into cards i believe. I don't think they fully pursued playing a game, but it was a long time ago.

Besides, I like the creativity of the ingame gambling we have so far. Darkradiance is working on a kickass casino, as is BobDobbs (I think). Both have gambling, and player run trivia, contests, etc etc.

Down with silver Make free use events for fun and not for profit. And your asking from 24/7 gambling npcs in every town. Make a player run event that's fine with a schedule but not automated gambling npcs in your face in every town.
