Dungeon thief template

Post by Malaikat »

100 str
25 dex
100 int

Skills I think I need:

Hide - 100
Stealth - 100
Steal - 100
Snoop - 100
Wrestle - 100
Mage - 80
Resist - 70
Med - 50

Skills I think I want: (but can't get to fit)

Item ID
Track
Detect

Obviously, I could reveal rather than detect and just carry ID wands rather than use the skill. Any suggested alterations though?

tracking is really useful, even just 30-40.

Yea, so what do I drop for it though?

I've thought about taking snoop and wrestle both to 80, but will I see a big impact? I'm more worried about snoop messages and failures than the wrestling.

It allows you to determine a thief from afar in order to find characters you can kill without recieving a count. Stealing from one only determines if they are perma, if you had to do that chances are you will hesitate attacking them if they are not. All npc guilded thieves can be slain on a whim outside of town.
This helps determine a real thief that is disguised from just a simple one named non thief player character.

Hiding
Stealth 80
Magery 90
Meditation 70
Wrestling
Resist
Snooping 60
Stealing

Name it something you can polymorph into a timber wolf, a slime, a gargoyle etc...or take an orc name to poly into orc. That way you can come out of hiding when a player is engaged or otherwise preoccupied and pretty much steal from them without much worry at all. You will most likely invisible more then you will hide.

Some will say not to, but keep resist...those who don't want you to have resist usually want to kill you. (People like to use magic on spawn believe me)
The disguise kit will be of great benefit to this "true form" of yours amongst the civil.

Ghosting hot spots where your "true form" is found gating in from an unobservable distance could be a tactic you might want to employ. Many PKs may employ your services to nab recall runes etc. from the intended target...waiting for them at an enterance to a dungeon and waiting for your crime time to run out before landing the killing blow. "or offer them a gate from a "helpful" blue character to which the gate would be dispelled from the other side in which you will not be able to recieve a count of murder. And should you...well friend...spawn are readily attacked and it is without worry for you to steal from one flagged grey"

If you wish you could even drop stealth, as most of your movements will be in the guise of your "true form" except when hidden until its safe to poly again unobserved...allowing you to GM the rest. Stealth is fun though granted...and you may not always want to be polymorphed seeking a more mundane way to go undetected through stealth. So...you can do the temp above or this.

True Form Polymorph thief...

Stealing
Snooping
Hiding
Magery
Resist
Meditation
Wrestling

You wanted something totally different, but let's be honest...this would be so much fun.

gm hiding is more practical now that you need to rehide upon stealthing to snoop

Being polymorphed is going somewhat undetected where stealth isn't needed as much if at all...so correct it is probably better to do 80 stealth (if at all) GM hide....good point.

Hiding is good to lay in wait for appropriate times to recast it. The last thing you need are words of power bubbling into view when you cast invisible.

Stealth is slow. Polymorphed you can run until you catch up without much worry. Stealth can be advantageous though for escape and finding a more suitable place to cast if you are caught in a standstill.

Point for Panthor...this is why I discuss unusual templates, usually people help round out rough edges on them. Some are keepers some are trash.

Thanks Panthor.

*Editing the first temp now
