Not only do I not chop my boxes. Sometimes I put some junk from the spawn in there and re-trap it on my tinkerer for any scavengers that come later.

I Telekinese any left-behind-chests I encounter, just to protect the overly-curious from people like Matron (I haven't found any of "yours" yet, though); sometimes (if there's any indication that the chest is Lvl2-4), I'll throw in a piece of garbage myself, and move it around to generate spawn.

you tinker trap other's chests after the first or second rummage spawn hits matron...
dont you have spies in your guild that always take any adventure invitation anyway?
Just wait for the "lets do these treasure maps" request...
