I have ticket # 62200 - and I am very frustrated

Post by Zehrfox »

I have holiday ticket number 62200, PLEASE contact me if you have a match

I have been logging in for 1-2 hours everyday for 8 days, trying to get a match. I broadcast my number at Santa and Brit Bank, and still no match.

This is really not a gift, but a burden, now I am spending hours a day NOT playing or macroing needed skills, but instead wandering around bored, trying desperately to match a ticket! I do not know why the people running the show did it this way, it really is annoying! On my other account, I did finally find a match, but I was hassled and that person made it a pain, not fun at all.

If anyone has a match PLEASE find my in game - Zehrfox, or reply to this post.

How long do we have to find our match? do the tickets expire? what if we cannot match it, do we lose this "gift" all together?

Can the devs just put a vendor elf or something that will trade in any ticket? - That would help a lot, I am getting REALLY tired of hopelessly trying to find a match, and I cannot imagine that I am the only one... am I?

I'm going to pretend you didn't say that thing about the vendor elf.

Anyway you should try IRC. You might have better luck there. Also post on the trading forums.

Stop doing it then.

I am not complaining, just to complain. In fact it is a free gift, so it is great that they do this, I just don't understand why this method

I am trying to understand why they give "gifts" in this way, why not just go to Santa and get a gift (or gump with selection, etc). Why this go and try to find someone thing?

If it is done to encourage meeting other players, I don't get it, because my experience with that made me strongly dislike that player, and gave me a more negative impression of the players here. Now, my experience may not be the norm, but there it is. I have only been here a few months, but it looks like they did this before. On other shards, I had played on, it was just in your pack or bank after Christmas, or you got a ticket and had to cash it at a certain location. In any event those were very short processes, and it was enjoyable and did NOT rely on finding a certain player, with no name or location to help you. For all i know the other person or people that have my number may have quit, or won't log in for another week, month, year? And even when they do, I have to be on, and I have to FIND them in game or hope they check forums, etc..

So my question is..... WHY?

If anyone has information as to why it is done this way, I would appreciate it.

Am I really the only one that finds this method really annoying and frustrating?

Thanks Checkmate, I took your advise and posted in the trading forum (under rares, because that is where I saw others posting them)

I don't use IRC, could someone enter a post on there for me - I would appreciate it.

Ticket system is from vanilla UO, not some demented social experiment pioneered by the admins here :P.

I think you are under the impression that every ticket has only one match, which is not true. A ticket can be given to multiple people. For example, I had ticket 81300. I tried to cash it in with 2 other people (who redeemed theirs with others) and finally found someone else who also had it. That being said, there is not ONE specific player you need to find.

As many have said here this is a free bonus. If it is draining you don't do it. Life will go on. Besides it seems you were able to redeem one of your other tickets successfully so just enjoy it :).

You forgot to factor in the time you spent complaining.

I have found a match! and the process was smooth and without problems.

Thank you Sebben!

Sorry, if my earlier posts were too whiny. For some reason, I was really frustrated by this, I probably just need a vacation :)
