re: killing these things; if you want to go actively hunting for them, it had better be with a high-level mage-bard, as has been suggested, continuously Provoking it away from you while you EBolt it to death; I wouldn't recommend Blade Spirits at all, due to the SS's speed & ferocity, and the difficulty of controlling/recasting BS ... ranging them from the deck of a ship is the only "safe" method of dispatching these nasty critters.

If you can be quick, clever, and confident in being quick & clever, there's often enough obstacles in the terrain on which you can hang them up: should you manage this, use the ranged attack of choice to finish them off.

They are, I think all would agree, foes worthy of respect.

that boat trap idea wasnt bad. You could "let" people get a hold of your key and recall onto the boat. Let the serp waste them then agro it onto an alt, loot, and count free. Not bad

On another note

I used to (prolly still do) despise these things. Well them and dire wolves. Must've died 100 times. I remember there was always a bugged one in Deceit LL room. 99% time never see you. But that one time it did, you were toast.

I am pretty confident I have died more to Silver Serps than to any other monster/PK in the shard. These creatures are nasty, fast as a Balron, hits like and OL, and poisons like a PE, deadly combination for sure.

I have thrown away maps because the SS simply cleared out the spawn. There was nothing else for me to provo it onto.

What sucks about them (and all monsters here) is that no matter how much you try to lure them away, unless you can trap them somewhere they always pathfind back to their spawn area.
