you can always start a few heavy torrents though

I remember getting up early or staying up late at night to get a rad 250ms connection to Chesapeake from Puerto Rico.

Otherwise it was 400+ and we considered that "playable".

When I played in late 1997 the game had crippling lag, I remember standing around for a minute then every player one screen would blurt out massive backed up text saying "Lag?" "LAG", etc.

In 1998 and 1999 when the game was more playable I had a DSL connection and a pentium 300, I remember it gave me a serious advantage at the time hehe.

He who lagged less could win a lot of fights or escape.

i avoided chessy's west brit bank like the PLAGUE back in those days. automatic disconnect like every time.

my guildies used to prank me by gating me there and saying it was moonglow =P
