Right, not ive got my self semi established on the server with a house and boat im starting to think of what characters to work on, but just want to clarify a few things...(not all to do with characters btw)
1. Say, someone tries stealing or killing in town, and you call guards on them, is looting their corpse classed as a criminal action?
2. Is plate armour worth anything? because i rarely see anyone actually wearing armour(unless its under their Robe)
3. Can someone explain what is meant by insta-hit? because all the posts ive read just dont make sense to me (yea yea i kno im dumb)
4. Can someone give me some idea of some decent monster spawns (other than destard and wrong ogre lord as i keep getting pked there)
5. Does polymorph actually do anything other than turn you into something? (e.g increase attack power if demon and so on)
Its funny, because over the last week i been thinking of stuff to ask and as i write the post i totally forgot em all lol.
but yea, if anyone can answer these id be greatful.

if they steal off you. you are free to attack them even if they appear blue. but you may not be able to call guards on them

I had read the wiki about insta-hit, but i think i was off my face at the time as this time i understood it.
but for the first question, i think you miss understood slightly.
Ive had someone try and steal off me while i was macroing, but at the time i was watching the screen and saw the message bbla bla is trying to steal from you, so i called the guards and they killed him.
what i want to know is once this person is dead, am i free to loot his corpse, or will this result in a criminal action?

yea with thiefs
there are different types of successful steals. and thieves have specific type of grey flaggin called perma grey. this is from the stealing wiki.
---Stealing and Criminal Flags ---
A member of the NPC thieves' guild cannot report murders. If you have stolen an item from an innocent player, you will be perma grey until you die. If you are perma grey, you will appear grey to the person you have stolen from and anyone may attack you without themselves getting a criminal flag or suffering retribution at the hands of the town guards. You may also be freely stolen from by other (honorless) thieves. If you steal from someone only to be killed by the town guards, you will be perma grey upon resurrection.
You will get a criminal flag (and so guards may be called on you in town)if you are seen by either a player or an NPC. ("Seen by a player" here means the player gets a message saying "You notice PLAYER stealing from SOME OTHER PLAYER.") If an NPC sees you steal, it will automatically call the guards. NPCs cannot see through walls, but they can see through doors and windows. If you are noticed stealing by a player who fails to immediately call the guards on you, you will have twenty seconds in which anyone may call the guards after you which the guards will not come when called. You will still, however, appear grey to all players for the normal duration of a criminal flag.
so basically.
as a thief myself i noticed 3 types of actions which occur in town.
1. i steal and remain blue: in this situation any1 is free to attack me and my name will change to grey for them, and they turn grey to me. so i can retaliate.
2. i steal and go grey: guards may be called, so i run for it...
3. i get guard wacked: a npc saw me do it. OoooOOoOOoo
im am not sure on the murder system for thiefs. but i am lead to believe that if i flag grey as a thief i am not at liberty to retaliate. basically if they stay blue dont attack them back!
instra-hit is basically.
if your weapon is fresh (you are not refreshing your swing timer) you will have a swing ready to hit.

Ill try this from a different angle,

LameR comes in thinking i am afk and attacks me.
I call guards and guards twat LameR. I laugh at him.

if you open a blue corpse you will get a note in the lower right corner of your screen telling you looting this corpse is a criminal offense.
So look for the note... or just single click on the corpse.... Blue = OOoooOOOoooO, grey/red = Loot
