I love the look of pain on the guys face.

I thought it was super awesome that the game wouldn't even install the non-beta client from the CD they sent.
Haven't bothered with it since, and it reminded me why I usually have "Never pre order an MMO" rule.

Re: UO Nostalgia
Definitely a hilarious video. I thought perhaps the reviews on MO were harsh, but after watching that clip its pretty obvious that "indie developers" does not necessarily mean "good."

Re: UO Nostalgia
Matron's video made me lol.
I really don't understand why dongs needed to be a design feature in Mortal Online.
I guess the logic is that if a player can't handle looking at dongs, they can't handle the hardcore nature of MO.
Best of luck with that particular business model I suppose.

Re: UO Nostalgia
It all started when I watched my older brother (Icon, who was in the guild M-N and D-I and other ones I wouldn't remember) running around doing big guild wars and such on the server Great Lakes. I was around 8 or 9 years old , now I'm 20. So he let me create a character. I named him "sneak". The first few weeks I ran around stealing out of barrels on top of Lord British's castle, getting PKed in the sewers and picking up any items I saw on the ground.
Later, my older brother stole an account which had characters on it named Rellik of KAAOS, Sir Rellik and some other ones.... He let me play Sir Rellik... I used that name ever since and that is where the legend began. 11 years later, here I am

Lately I've been using the wayback machine but the hardest part is finding the URL to stuff I can barely remember. Then I found this site which I haven't seen posted before that has a large page of old UO sites
http://web.archive.org/web/199812051534 ... gates.com/
Here's someones gameplay journal which is 163 pages long, the first quarter of it though is him railing about OSI's billing so there's really nothing interesting there, but the rest is good and details a lot of updates. I think it starts out while UO is in beta

Off and on for a couple weeks, I've been trying to think of a characters name whose stories I'd read back when I was playing on OSI. He's the guy that comes to mind to me when I think of a rogue. I managed to find it yesterday, guys name was Xavori. I've never been able to successfully play a thief, but it's certainly fun to read about it.

Back in the day, Belan the Looter from Napa was classic UO-related entertainment for me. Her stuff is still out there at http://www.askcorran.com/belan/ .

I remember reading these back in '99! I thought they were hilarious and did make a spoof character like that. Thanks for posting!Ulor wrote:This guy, too?

Re: UO Nostalgia
Man, I have so many stories. I haven't played in a few years and I still have UO dreams every now and then...it's sad when you think about it.
A few friends from my street and I used to play starting around Christmas of 97, and we were pks/griefers from the start. If there was an underhanded trick to be exploited, we were on the cutting edge. I can't tell you how many houses we stole or looted dry by hiding purple pots under the their doorstep and just waiting for the owner.
My favorite UO story, however, is about the time we scammed a GM. It was on Catskills and there was a rare open book stuck on the ground under the huge roof of the Ironwood Inn - the one on the way out of town near the guard post. I imagine it belonged on a desk inside, but the developers just dropped it onto the wrong level. Anyway, we paged a GM and fed him this line about how I was trying to transfer it to my friend but misclicked and dropped it on the ground next to him, where it got stuck. He thought about it a moment, before unsticking it and handing it to me. Easiest gold I ever made, and bragging rights to boot.

Save yourself the shame and embarrassment and just assume that if you can't understand me...you're the one who's retarded.
