Spawn Despawns and Rubber Banding

Post by Apocal »

In T2A we used to keep monsters in our houses/castles for extended periods of time. One of my favorite things was filling our castle and then clearing it out as a guild. Currently tamed and other creatures rubber band within a time period or despawn. A base guideline for the origional was this:

1 Creature's Spawn Length: ~ 2 weeks or so. If this could be fixed to be T2A accurate it would be greatly appreciated.

This is actual intentional and accurate behavior, but barely within era:
Server Publish Feb 23 2000 10:22AM CST
Untamed monsters and animals in houses will “die” after a certain amount of time. These monsters and animals will be eligible for “death”, within a given amount of time, under the following circumstances:
  • If the monster/animal is not targeted.
  • If the monster/animal does not receive or deliver damage.
The "certain amount of time" is known to be 20 hours, but I did some searching just now and can't remember where I saw this number.

There is a reason we do this, we can't allow people to have hundreds of creatures in their houses because it causes a great amount of lag when people pass by. We recently had this problem with sheep.

OSI forbid during the era prior to the patch cited above, the trapping of animals in houses, although I don't exactly know what the rule was, and they of course were not very good at catching people at anything in early 1999 anyway.

I wasn't aware of the two week guideline, currently our mobs do not despawn at all except in special circumstances.

A few weeks ago, I noticed that animals disappeared 12 hours after I placed them where I wanted them. For roughly half of this time, they were tamed.

Okay, I can understand why that is in there then. Any info on the rubber banding of tamed animals? example: I get a bunch of bulls together for fighting and they rubber band back to their original spawn locations (still tamed).

Edit:

Additional Information - this can be within as few as a few minutes.

Ahh. I see, I didn't get this from your original post.
I only knew this was happening with one sheep spawn location, I'll get this fixed.

Thanks.
