Client 5.0.8.3 difference?

Can I ask what's the difference between 5.0.8.3 and the most recent patched 7.x client? Just curious what the advantages would be of going with the older "custom" client?

There's differences in the maps. If you use a client patched much past 5.0.8.3 you will wind up getting stuck in certain areas.
