Sever Wars

Post by Apocal »

Would it be possible to implement server wars at midnight like it used to be in T2A. The servers could just not go down or the shut down time could be changed to ~ midnight. This was a lot of fun and accurate to the t2a era.

i remember it going down around 11 am
cause i would play saturday mornings and always rage about the time of the server shut down
but i think ltos of different servers went down at different times

would be hard to make it accurate to everyone of them

Every shard had a different down time... I think pacific was 3 pm (est???)

Keep in mind Midnight EST is 9pm West coast (aka prime play time)

I'd be all for some type of server wars but not sure how you would do it...

Also, doesnt tourneys kind of ask like a server war?

Servers resetted at 3-4am server time for all EA servers if I remember correctly. I played on Baja on EST, and server wars typically started around 7am. It may have changed during later eras, but I would have no idea on that. I'll have to look it up on stratics sometime to see if I can scrounge up any information on it to be certain.

Server wars at 3am would be cool, that's like midnight pacific.

Hoots and I were talking about this yesterday.. Remember that the best part of server wars was the no risk in losing things.. people used to come decked out in there best rarest most powerful shit to wage war. I remember sitting atop the buildings in Brit GY casting mass AOE spells and teleporting away from archers. Definitely a GOOD TIME!! I vote for implementing this as well.

You can't do server wars without a shard restart, and we can't restart the shard during peak times.

It's been suggested to do thing's like this once a week, but to be honest it only appeals to a small group of people, and yet is completely disruptive to the entire shard.

Test center is a good option if you want to have some fun. I can bring that up with a recent save more often if there is demand.

Doesn't the server restart every morning at around 7am?

It does. The suggestion was to move the restart to midnight, or to do a sever wars without a restart.

i think around 7:10 est... but how much time do you lose? 10-15 minutes if that?

I like the idea of setting up a tourney/event with no holds barred... hell do it in a dungeon for an hour on sunday nights or something...

No murder counts, no looting, every thing is available to use... Although i wonder what kind of lagg it would be with tons of Tames, EV's poison fields and blades covering the screen... Actually, this sounds AWESOME!

Yes, that is what I thought it was. The point I'm trying to make is that server wars is already in place, but the time just simply needs to be extended slightly from the last save until restart. This way macroing won't be ruined, nor would the peak hours. This way it exists, and if no one shows up they don't show up. I highly doubt many would anyhow. I know I couldn't because of my work schedule.

dont move the server restart time.
all the events and such are in peak time.
i play in off peak, and this is one of the few "Events" i look forward to.

dont make this shard only cater to peak play, that isnt looking out for it as a whole!

I STRONGLY oppose server wars, and ESPECIALLY if they were to be at midnight in any of the US time zones.

As Derrick said, the nightly server wars are fun for a minuscule fraction of the community, and hugely pisses off a much more significant portion.

On Chesapeake, the server restart was 5am EST I believe. It was irritating then, and it'll be irritating now.
