I believe they did the trick or treating thing, by visiting houses you got random items and the server kept a tally of all the houses you visited. Perhaps on Halloween, there could be some sort of monster that lives in random player's houses, and you'd have to "knock" on each house in the area to find him and collect your treats. That would be cool!
