Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
I thought so, I was just checking. The town invasions are era accurate. Rewards are not.

Exactly my point. On OSI....town invasions only dropped normal loot and people participated because it was fun, furthered a plot line and they enjoyed it. NOT to get l33t trammel items. I am all for removing silver completely from the game. Leave the tourneys and events, but remove the silver. People are farming the hell out of the tourney system and I think it is complete BS.wgensel wrote:I thought so, I was just checking. The town invasions are era accurate. Rewards are not.

[14:17] <UOSAPlayer4056> cr3w guild is a joke. Ran by staff members, multi client pking, this shards a joke and a half.

Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
I disagree completely with Brules.
The fact that certain people are good at the tournament system and "farm" is not unfair because Brules could, if he chose to, practice PvPing in order to compete and "farm" the silver system himself. Brules choosing not to do this doesn't make the system inherently unfair.
I think its a good thing that people who are mainly interested in PvP have some sort of reward system in which to hold their interest in the shard. It keeps them entertained and keeps the playerbase up. As someone who does not participate in the tournaments, the fact that certain people do and often win does not effect me in the slightest.

Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
This is BS. There is no reward system for taming, for home decorating, for roleplaying, or any number of the other aspects of this game. Routinely having events that involve one small portion of the game, and giving sizable rewards for it, is ridiculous. We've artificially added a system to this shard that rewards certain skills and interest with items in-game. If one is mainly interest in pvp, they can go out into the world and pvp. I don't see why we need to build special arenas in Trammel to "hold their interest". If they're not interested in playing T2A-era UO, then why are they here at all?BobDobbs wrote:I think its a good thing that people who are mainly interested in PvP have some sort of reward system in which to hold their interest in the shard.

Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
The reward for taming is the ability to farm monsters in relative safety.
The reward for collecting rares is the enjoyment one gains from collecting them.
You have the opportunity to participate in the tournaments if you choose to. But don't claim the system is inherently "BS" just because you're bad at them. I'm bad at them, so I don't participate, but I certainly don't demand that the opportunity be removed because I'm bad at tournaments.
I don't think this is about accuracy at all. I think this is about a perceived unfairness when one doesn't exist.

By this same logic you could say that someone who enjoys PvP has as a reward to be able to trash talk because they beat someone in a duel. Or a reward of getting all the hard earned gold I had gotten on my bard when you pk'ed me. Or better yet, the reward of winning the pot of gold from a player organized tournament.

I see what you're trying to say, but I think the logic is flawed.BobDobbs wrote:The reward for taming is the ability to farm monsters in relative safety.

If those are the rewards listed for animal taming and rare hunting - wouldn't the reward for PVPing be the loot you get for killing someone or possibly the recognition you get for winning?
To be honest, I do not care about silver. I do enjoy the CTF the flag games, but that is about it. My point above is just to simply show I don't think your reasoning is valid proof that silver is a justified reward for PVP based on the above evidence.

Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
I don't need to prove that silver is justified, shard policy has done that for me.
The only thing I need to prove is that any player has the opportunity to win silver if they choose to, and I think I have sufficiently done that.

Events are fun and everyone who don't like em can choose if they participate or not. Really simple, isn't it? No need for any comparisons with tamers (lol!), rare hunting, risk and reward, blablablablablablblba.
MORE EVENTS NOW!
Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
The real question:
Would removing silver from events ruin the player base of the shard?

I think it would reduce it, yes.
Therefore changing the policy would be a pyrrhic victory.
