I thought the Cove invasion was great, except:

- Killing orcs made no difference in the invasion
- Orcs only dropped regular orc loot

This was quite fun for about 30 minutes (I stuck around a few hours since it was my first invasion since OSI), but when you can't affect the event at all and you don't get any reward from participating, I can't imagine showing up to the next one. Which I really think is a shame, too, because the invasion events probably have the most fun potential of any of the event types - way more than the silly tournaments or megaquests, because towns are just great for all sorts of fightin', not only PvE

Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
silver dropped on orc lords
ill give you a bit of info how the raid worked.
The spawners are turned up to multiple times in the orc fort for the initial invasion, it spawns like crazy for about 20 minutes. Then the spawners are manually turned off. So the fort is completely loaded with orcs and it takes a while to clear it out, but they do clear out. Since not enough people stuck around (maybe 3 players left) at the orc fort event the city turned on and was invaded manually again.
So it was determined by the players and they had an impact on the event, it was just manually decided.
It all is done manually.
A lot of times at those events admin will drop some finall bosses in and turn off the spawns.
We have one raid set up at ivers rounding that works like a champ spawn. The more/fast you kill the mobs harder ones pop until the island is covered in ancient wyrms and everyone is dead
If the manual part of all this can be made automated that would be awesome.
Also if you have good event ideas taht could be implemented easily enough write upa detailed description and email/pm it to admin.

Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
If the GMs are already manually progressing the event along, maybe we just need them to give the participants a little update once in a while. I would definitely have left or at least gone for more players if I'd been informed that there weren't enough players to "make a dent" in the invasion, even though we "survivors" kept half the town permanently clear of orcs with just 3 people for hours.BlackFoot wrote:silver dropped on orc lords

It's possible that silver did drop on orcs lords, but I feel like three hours and two ogre lords, over a hundred orc lords and some disgustingly large amount of orcs and ratmen archers should have produced at least one silver. Maybe it was just bugged on this event, or maybe the drop rates are too low on the Cove invasion? It was my first event, like I said before, so I can't say how it's worked in the past.
Essentially, these points can't be covered just by explaining how events work. I ended up just going home at one point and hitting a regular dungeon, and I felt a little cheated out of an ending or some sort of closure to an event that I spent a bunch of time attending. All I'm suggesting is that event participants mostly get to walk away with either closure or some material reward, and I don't think that's unreasonable.

Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
There may have been a thief at th event stealign all the silver from mobs before they hit hte ground.
The event was explained ahead of time to everyone who showed up when the call went out.
The fort was the event, the town was punishment

Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
I still feel like there could've been some kind of update. I showed up right when the call went out that Cove was under attack, so I must've showed up as second wave max. There couldn't have been a thief, but I met some people who did get silver, so evidently I was just unlucky on that front. :]BlackFoot wrote:There may have been a thief at th event stealign all the silver from mobs before they hit hte ground.

Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
Can people rly get silver from the mob this way? I tried this and discovered you cant snoop a monster, therefore you have random steal, and since you dont even know if the monster has silver, you could just be wasting your time anyway, youd have to random steal about 5 times per orc to know if it has silver or not.BlackFoot wrote:There may have been a thief at the event stealing all the silver from mobs before they hit the ground.

Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
afaik from past events, GMs said that the silver spawned when the creature died only to prevent people being able to steal trophies and silver from Siege Captains and suchKabal wrote:Can people rly get silver from the mob this way? Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
silver is generated when the mob dies its not created in its backpack when it spawns

Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
So basically you want champ spawns....
Re: Trophy Turn in System / Event Updates
The fact that silver even drops on mobs/spawns like this is absolutely ridiculous. Its like chuming the water to get people to participate......totally not era accurate. Just like the tourneys....if people want them, then give them to them with NO Trammel rewards. The whole silver / rewards system is as trammel as the secure duel arena.

+1 for truthiness, but I hope you aren't hating on the town invasions in general.Brules wrote:The fact that silver even drops on mobs/spawns like this is absolutely ridiculous. "If people want them, then don't include trammel rewards" I think he's more concerned with silver in general.wgensel wrote:+1 for truthiness, but I hope you aren't hating on the town invasions in general.Brules wrote:The fact that silver even drops on mobs/spawns like this is absolutely ridiculous.
