Is it easier to win tournies or is it easier to farm gold?

I'm going with farming gold, but mostly because I am really, really bad at PvP. So as it stands now, silver would be fairly inaccessible to me unless someone like Sandro were selling it. The In-game economy is functioning properly as far as I can tell in that regard.

I'm sure staff will eventually include ways for non-PvPers to obtain more silver than is currently available to us. It just takes time and we as players just have to be patient.

You're implying that there are other goals in this game besides being the best at LEETPVP1V1OMGNOOB. Pretty sure that's not the case.

Farming gold will yield more silver over time, as it can be done ANYTIME.

Underlying my point is my leaning towards a "buyout" system of cutting out the middleman of silver and being able to purchase (at an inflated price) rares off the list. This has been covered in other "gold-sink" threads, but deserves another look.

I think many players would rather just revel in the fact that they own 10 castles or have cool sandles or the "I love UOSA" shirt.

The event system was implemented a long time before the most of you (and me) joined this shard so i cant see any good reason why it should be an accuracy issue. It never was. Furthermore the first time while i recognized the event system i had to think about other freeshards i've played on and went broke cause people got bored after a time.

I think the actual reward system attracts people to farm for silver (that they have to buy from a player, interact / negotiate with him / her) and take part in events. CTF Wharf was a good example for it - lots of participating players (20 - 30 per team). Where can you see this ingame nowadays??? Nowhere... its unfortunately gone...

UOSA can be really proud of this because its not like any other reward system where you could farm alone. Here you have to interact and compete with others for it. This is - within my ken - unique and makes a difference to other shards.

Events with silver are bringing activity beside the peak times to this server. Events without silver are barely attended and only causing people to complain about "wasting" their time ("500 gold ftw"). So don't even start with this point. Events without silver = fail.

If it would be up to me i would reintroduce the extra silver for the leader of the winning team and at least double the events on the schedule like it was in the days back.

I fully support the Silver system, but that (as well as the implementation date of the Silver system) is not relevant to its era accuracy. The system is a functional game mechanic by any stretch of the term with fully predictable rules, schedules, risks and rewards no different from anything else in the game. Events spawn on time just as surely as orcs do on UOSA. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it - at least in my relatively short time here, I've seen a fairly... "consistent inconsistency" in the application of the era accuracy paradigm, and the shard is still quite fun. ;)

Of all the accepted inaccuracies here, the Silver system is probably the most beneficial.

Great post. I remember when we hit the 830-ish online peak, right when events were at their prime ;)

The two unique pets are Matron & Chumbucket.

They came fully equipped with post-on-demand features and all. All I need to do is make an initial post and they automatically get to work. Open bidding starts now.

I own 3 unique pets.

Adams is a GM wrestling, GM tactics grizzly bear. There isn't another one on the shard.

BlackDecker is a flamestriking dragon (get it? He toasts things. Get it?). Again, I defy you to find another one on the shard.

And frenzy is my best friend. We travel everywhere together, and he never gets tired. He is friendly to most, but don't cross him and get on his bad side! He hates ettins and trolls, but is quite the snuggler. There is no other pet like him.
