Re: Carpentry Help!
Hey all.
Just as a guide for others, I GMed from 50 with this method and used 57k boards. I made a few mistakes. Left the macro running and came back to find id been making bloody dartboards for 3 hours but other than that it was as suggested above.

42,758gp to GM carpenty is pretty good considering the amount of time and material it takes to GM the skill. The profit would've been a lot higher had I been the only one vendoring at the time. I used 4 organizer agents within the macro to move the staves into four pouches that my alt could pick up, vendor, then drop off without interrupting the macro. Rotating between several vendors allows you to sell for the highest price and doing so in batches allows the vendor to reset by the time you need to make your rounds again.

Re: Carpentry Help!
quick question: is there a difference (skill gain-wise) between crafting fishing poles and q-staffs? (they both become available at the same skill level. q-staff takes 6 boards, fp takes 5 boards and 5 cloths.)
for some reason i really really hate gathering tailoring resources. i even hate buying them from npc vendors.

Re: Carpentry Help!
believe you're mistaken, sir. fishing poles become available more than 10 full points before gnarled staves. it's really not bad doing the fishing poles. one or two sheep runs and you have all the cloth you need. grind it to 73.6 then make quarter staves to 80. can't make gnarled staves until 78.9.
edit: gnarled staves also take 7 wood, not 6.

Re: Carpentry Help!
Just bought carp from a vendor and trying to make red boxes, which is painnnnnfully slow. Anything better to make to get better skill gain until I can get to ballot boxes?
Re: Carpentry Help!
Nice Hicha very accurate
Re: Carpentry Help!
So what did you do with all the items you created? Just trash them?
Re: Carpentry Help!
Where can I find info about this? There's nothing like this (kinda 8x8, out of the town, etc) in t2a?Mikel123 wrote:There's no such code here that checks for "mixing things up". That didn't come into UO until the "anti-macro code" publish, which was after this shard's time span.

Re: Carpentry Help!
Looking to work on my carpenter so I'm trying to gather information. I did a quick/small look to see who to vendor to and I figured it would the the carpentry building or the regular old provisioner but didn't have any luck at either, so where do I sell my red boxes and medium crates? Can you not sell until you get higher skill and work on different stuff?Hicha wrote:Starting Skill | Item Created | Boards

Re: Carpentry Help!
best way i found still as soon as ye can make each item swap onto it.
Wooden shield
quarterstaffs
gnarled staffs all the wat to GM (yes you will make a hell of alot of these and yes it WILL GM you)
None of these should be any issue to sell and take little boards each. you will still need alot of board total if you wanna gm in 1 go straight. I have no estimate as i just did a day of lumbering a night of macroing every now and then and in no time i was gm carp.

Re: Carpentry Help!
You will just have to use the boxes for yourself, follow the guide you quoted or look at these links for more reference, but they basically say the same. Also your skill level in terms of selling back to npc, you'll get more on better made ones.RaveGreen wrote:

As you will read, 75k or so boards are needed, at least from 50.
Good luck!

Wow... in my prior, and obviously not good enough research, I was thinking somewhere along the lines of 50k...Orion GM B^D wrote:As you will read, 75k or so boards are needed, at least from 50....
