Item Decay on Boats
We will be activating decay for items left on the deck of a boat. These items will decay at the same rate as items left on the ground outside.

Only items left on the deck of a boat will decay, items in the hold of a boat will not be subject to decay.

This is from the famous precasting patch (146). Are we leaving it this way? There was no decay before January 24th 2000.

Nope, I'll make this change. I wasn't aware of the inconsistency. Thanks for the research.

Be aware that items left on the deck of a boat will decay until announced otherwise in th patch notes.

Decay is weight based here, a good size pile of ore should last for many days currently.

Can't people teleport onto your boat or come up close to it and take your stuff? I seem to remember people being able to do this.

Aye, you can lift items off peoples decks. I think the middle is safe but still worth testing.

Correct. Last patch took away boat decay.
