Proposed Duel System

This is a system i think it would be nice to have on the shard, however i have already been told many a time they don't want to add it in unless most of the players approve of it.

Basic Features:
* Organise a duel anywhere anytime
* Up to 4 vs 4
* No Item loss
* Duel Ranking System, Brag your the best

As long as it doesn't interfear with the gameplay at all I don't see how it could hurt.

Duel with friends. I've been on too many free shards and see the dungeons empty of people, only to recall to duel pits and see 8 people dueling. Any loot free, protected duel pit hurts gameplay on a shard by taking players out of the game and into a small part of trammel.

That is 100% true, that's why you make it to where the players must use their own supplies to duel. Whether or not it is lootable is up to the staff. The only way I would be ok with it is if it doesn't affect the economy, at all, meaning, duel areas could not be safe-havens from PvP, and that supplies must be consumed while dueling.

It isn't lootable, it uses their resources, we can always apply a limit of 1 duel per hour or so, so maybe if you only have a problem with one particular aspect of the system, you should ask for that part to be changed here in this thread,

I dont like all of these maybe votes, with no suggestions on what needs to be changed.

O btw, the arena's are not trammel regions, so yes pk's can wait at the gate where you come out of the duel, but this could easily be modded so you return to the location where you started the duel.

Ok the changes i made to make the system better are:
* One Duel Per Hour
* You are returned to the location where you were when the duel started, etc brit bank
Other:
* This system does not involve trammel regions, you simply can't attack or be attacked by the people dueling in the arena, however anyone outside the duel watching at the arena is freely attackable.
* This system does use regs and pots etc, but when you die all your items in your corpse are returned to you
* There are a good few rules you can set up when creating the duel, etc no magery, no weapons, and others, it is as simple at checking a box while creating the duel.
*This system gives no trophies or rewards, you can however climb to the top of the dueling ranked ladder.

How about the duel takes place where you two are. When one person's life is supposed to hit0 and die, they don't die but are left with 1hp and the duel ends and the dueler's disengage combat and return to their normal noto status. No Duel Pits, no waiting an hour for duels, you use all your regs/pots and keep them when you 'lose', and the rules are whatever you want to do. Duels are only allowed in guard zones.

Duels should never be protected, let alone have there own pit. It's T2A, it's risky, you can die anywhere. The only thing this prevents is some ass hat to duel you and take all your shit.

The problem is without a trammel region we cant stop people from blocking the duel, etc they make you loose dex by getting in your way and eventually close you in, i know i would hate something like this to happen to me when i dueled.

You shouldn't be dueling by the bank. There's always a dead spot in a town to duel away from everybody. I'm sorry, but I'm just very much against the idea of taking people and teleporting them out of the game world. I think we can add a dueling system that doesn't require people having there own world.

Why not make the Jhelom dueling pits an actual dueling pit? That way it's in the game and you have to travel there to duel.

No anyone can guild and duel in town, there will be no dueling in town, not because i say so, because derrick says so, All that happens is you start a duel you duel in the arena, then you are returned back to the location where you started the duel.

I like this idea. I think it would bring some more people in who dont necessarily pvp. Like me for example. I still suck a pvp after how many years? It would give those a chance to get some practice in and be more confident in taking on pvp in an open enviroment. I like all the suggestions above except.......

One duel per hour.. Why? Who cares how many times you duel your buddy. What if you get an unofficial duel tornament going. If you get more than 4 ppl together, that makes a long day. Now saying that, if you are going to keep stats on whos winning the most duels, you would have to implement some sort of code to prevent me and my buddy from dueling all day just to get to the top of the boards. Heres a good place for the hour thing to come in. I duel my buddy x times in an hour. However, after the first duel is done, a timer is set to one hour before our duel counts towards the stat board again, thus preventing dueling all day to own the boards and we can still duel all day, cuase I definitly need all the practice I can get.


Dueling in town. I do see that being an issue. I think the only way to make it work is to send the duel somwhere. I.E. the duel pits or to GM land with an arena. It would be cool to if your buddys wanted to come watch, you could create a party and the duelest would be transported inside the arena, and the rest of the party to the "stands", I guess guarded to prevent fights in the stands. Those crazy spectators! Or maybe not, it is fun to watch the fans fight. Or maybe none at all, you can check it out in the razor video thread when I get done. After the fact, everyone is transported back to area of duel initiation.

Yes to supplies consumed, yes to you get all your stuff back after you are defeated.

After the duel you would have to make it where you go back to 100% hits stam, mana to prevent weak and unsportsman ganks after the duel. Otherwise you get done win with 25 hits left and blam, one eb and your done and they take all your stuff.


And to say that the duel system would take away from dungeons ect. I feel is an unfounded claim. You will always have everyone doing something diffrent, especially now with our pop so low. And if thats truly the case then that means the 1v1 tornies, ctf etc is taking away from that now, so to use that as a reason not to do it would mean taking away all other events which bring a lot of life to the shard.

All good sugestions, however 1 duel per hour is best, as it instantly stops all duel ranking exploits, because i highly doubt someone will build up more then 12 wins by dueling them selves or a friend.

One duel per hour just means you can only start one duel per hour, it doesn't mean you cant be added into a duel with a friend. So you could actually have two duels an hour if you create one and then your friend creates one. So 16 people in some sort of guild organized dueling tournament would easily be able to work out a way to have everyone duel.

You are brought to full Str, Dex, Int after the duel.
