Do you gain a lot of fame, for example, if you kill a Glorious Lord when you're at 0 fame level?
I'd expect that killing a GL would give you as many points as, say, a Dragon or whatever the equivalent is.

You´re not going to gain any fame by killing blue characters, quite opposite. I thinkBlackbeard wrote:Do you gain a lot of fame, for example, if you kill a Glorious Lord when you're at 0 fame level?

Re: Killing Players For Fame
You lose karma by murdering players and innocent NPCs.
Fame is gained by killing things with more fame than you and is a separate tier and I'm wondering if fame from players is implemented here.

Re: Killing Players For Fame
yes, sorry, you are right.
From stratics:
What actions will raise Fame?
• Killing PCs who have higher Fame than you.
But I don´t know if is era accurate, maybe It's always been that way

My Playguide from 98 says it is. I haven't tested this yet.

Re: Killing Players For Fame
It is era accurate, you should gain fame from killing PCs with higher fame than you.
The way we lose karma for killing players is also inaccurate.
I have actually noticed some proof of this in one of Derrick's screenshots from the demo, where he was testing the ability to double murder count someone. Until I get the demo I can't prove it though, I searched heaps and there was no info on it.

Re: Killing Players For Fame
Your thread is correct shark. I'm eventually going to just post a thread of a few small inaccuracies with photographed pages and other stuff.
Derrick and I did a little testing to see how this was working and this is what was learned:
- You do gain fame from killing other players. Killing a "Lord" will yield something like 50 points.
- There is no message to indicate whether you've actually gained any fame when you kill another player.
Here's what my playguide states word for word about this.

Karma
Karma is gained or lost on a sliding scale. At the top of the scale it requires much more noble deeds to raise it further, while only murder is a horrid enough act to take you to the very rock bottom of the scale. Karma is most useful for helping you roleplay interactions with other characters.
These are some of the actions that will raise your Karma.
Killing evil NPCs
Killing monsters
Giving gold and items to good NPCs
Turning in the head of a bountied Murderer
Casting helpful spells on characters with positive Karma
These are some of the actions that will lower your Karma.
Being reported as a Murderer
Killing good NPCs
Killing dogs, cats, dolphins, horses, pack horses or pack llamas
Chopping up corpses (Yes, this does apply to chopping up Murderer corpses in order to retrieve a head for a bounty. You might be famous but your profession is generally frowned upon.)
Casting helpful spells on monsters or evil NPCs
Summoning Daemons
Stealing
Snooping
Using the Poisoning skill
Fame
Like Karma, Fame is acquired on a sliding scale. When you are already famous, you're expected to do more heroic (or villainous) deeds than normal folk.
These are some of the actions that will raise your Fame.
Killing PCs who have higher Fame than you
Killing NPCs who have higher Fame than you
Killing monsters that have higher Fame than you
Killing animals that have higher Fame than you
Completing NPC escort quests
Rescuing prisoners
Generously giving gold and items away to good NPCs
These are some actions that will lower your Fame.
Using the begging skill
Dying
Fame decays with time (fame is fickle).
