Spirit speak is terrible for gaining INT.
Always start with 60 int since it's the hardest stat to gain.
Herding, camping, cooking are the best ways to raise INT but it will also go up quite quickly while you raise your magery. Starting with 60 int I've never had trouble getting it to 100, without using any of the "lore skills" (which raise int very slowly).

SS will increase INT, however it has a 10 sec delay, whereas herding, for example, can be done without a pause.
Start with 60, herd it up to 65 (you should end up well over 50 STR by this point), then if you're working Eval Int (which makes sense if you need mana), then work Eval Int before Magery (your Resist will thank you later), and well before GMing Eval you'll have 100 INT.
