Fishing

I just want a definitive answer on a fishing question. I want to level fishing and I read in a different thread that unattended macroing was allowed from shore, if the fish are dropped at your feet. Another thread said that it was ok, but only in shallow water. I want to be sure though. Don't want to get banned for doing something, I'm having too much fun.

A definitive yes or no would be much appreciated.
