Active Roleplaying Community

Post by Erestar »

Hello!
I've just gotten back into UO after an 8 year hiatus and I'm excited to be playing this old classic.

I was wondering if there are any active role-playing communities around. I checked the forums, but its hard to get an up-to-date picture of what's going on. I'm not specifically looking to join a guild, but am more interested in finding out about player towns or common areas where the people have an interest in staying in character.

If you are affiliated with a role-playing guild and are looking for new recruits, let me know!

About me:
* My favorite type of character to play is a ranger-themed fighter.
* Being a fan of the Ultima series, I try to stick to the Virtues as well as I can, even when alone. This applies not only to interaction with other players but to raising skills and stats, what and where I hunt, which players I fight, etc.
* I enjoy PvP under certain conditions (see above), but I'll need some work done to my characters first.
* I think the fiction provided by the game is very satisfying, therefore I don't normally go in for "external" factors, like vampires. Likewise, I find that in-game mechanics are more than enough to provide everything you need to role-play. Therefore, if you emote "I put you in a trance" I'll probably just walk away.
* I let my character's back story write its self.
* I'm always in character. This doesn't mean I won't discuss skills and stats because that's just a part of the character's life. It _does_ mean that I won't talk about how I went to the bar last Friday, what I think about the presidential run, or what the Penguins need to do to get their power play working.
* I don't address people out of character in an annoying way, and chances are none of my characters will ever say the word "role-playing" in-game. I'm more than will to accept that not everyone stays in character.

Some specific things I'm interested in:
* Group adventures to the Lost Lands or dungeons
* Pilgrimages to the Shrines of Virtue
* Themed-based guilds, such as rangers, guards, mage orders, etc
* Getting involved in world events
* Hosting player events, like player-run quests

So, if you're a group or individual that thinks the way I do please drop me a line!

Thanks!!

There's quite a bit of RP discussion in the Community section on the forum, scroll down on main page and check our the Guild Recruitment. We have some rich roleplaying guilds both established and forming.

Question kinda dove tailing into this. Is there any plans to build or make RP towns. I started On Catskills and latter went over to Chessy, and of the things I enjoyed were the blessed RP towns. Many towns had unique items and buildings, and they were always an active part of the game.

There's Shadowmire north of Trinsic. And the Orc fort by the Desert of Compassion. Players have to pay pretty heavily for them though.
