Razor is actually what unequips your halberd, we don't actually have auto-unequip on casting here. When you hit your spell key, it goes through razor and razor sends "de-equip the weapon before attempting to cast". If there is an object delay, it can't unequip the halberd until the timer is ready.Psilo wrote:After some testing I think there may be a bug.
I thought casting a spell should unequipped hally regardless of object delay? It has nothing to do with "using" an object so to speak. Casting a spell should avoid the unequip object delay.
This may be a problem, because yea I'm getting "cannot cast a spell with equipped" message also.

Re: Is the pvp better now then before?
yes that sounds correct there was a small delay back in T2A timeframeJoueur Moyen wrote:Okay, now I see what you mean.
Equip for insta-hit, unequip to cast, have to wait 1 sec.
Isn't that how it should be? (During t2a, that is.)

Currently, if you do not wait the object delay time after equipping a weapon you cannot cast the spell. You must wait the object delay time after you have executed an action in order to begin any other action.
You might notice that if you have the razor option checked "auto unequip for spells" your weapon will always un equip upon hitting your spell hotkey, even tho the object delay had prevented the actual spell from being cast.
This is entirely a razor option issue. There was no auto unequip for spell casting back in the day, and you will notice here that if you manually unequip your weapon, you can cast Immediately after your weapon is unequiped, without waiting for the delay.
No bug here, just a slight incompatibility with razor and UO

Re: Is the pvp better now then before?
Here is my question in regards to this, is the hally timer going to be decreased also? Meaning, when I unequip my hally, and immediately re-equip, does it go off my wrestling timer? Or does my timer still continue, but goes to my hally timer.nightshark wrote:Remember that there are changes to the swing timer coming, which will change how important it is to equip/instantly de-equip. It only causes a problem right now because of the way the swing timer works - you MUST have your weapon unequipped until the wrestling swing timer has elapsed, then it is only important to have your hally equipped for .25s while you take a swing.
When the swing timer is changed, this will no longer be the case - your swing timer will continue to elapse once you equip your hally.
On a timeline it would look like this assuming 3 seconds is wrestling timer and hally is 5 seconds.
Now: Hit with hally unequip...1...2...3 equip hally swing
Later: hit with hally..1..unequip...2...3...equip and swing again? or will it go
Hit with hally...1...unequip...2..Equip..3....4.....5 and swing?
Regardless, I am not to pleased with the fact that their are steps to progession of this patch, as oppossed to receiving the entire thing at once.

More or less. If you guys really want the full experience of OSI equip and unequip, go under the hotkey options in your UO paperdoll.
Re: Is the pvp better now then before?
Okay yea guys I see what you mean, I forgot about razor.
Nighthawk:
Actually the code for the more accurate system which is being worked on is different. You will still need to unequip your hally to refresh your hally hit "as fast as you can". You just won't need to stand still.
Keep in mind the object delay works against both aggressors AND the defenders. If you don't use the hally smart then you may catch your equipping it and getting stuck with the delay and be unable to gheal or mini heal since you can't cast while equipped.

Re: Is the pvp better now then before?
Yea but the difference is that you no longer will need to equip your hally at the perfect time (ie; exactly 2.5s or whatever the wrestle timer is). So with correct timings you should be able to avoid the delay entirely.Psilo wrote:Okay yea guys I see what you mean, I forgot about razor.

Currently the most effective way to use a hally is to equip it at EXACTLY 2.5s, hit and de-equip instantaneously (which makes the 1s object delay frustrating). After the patch the equip delay will be bypassed and the counter will continue to run, in my understanding.

Re: Is the pvp better now then before?
As far as I know keeping your hally equipped is not going to do you good. In t2a mages always unequipped their hally to get cycle. I don't know the exact mechanism but it's much faster than just keeping your hally on.ere is my question in regards to this, is the hally timer going to be decreased also? Meaning, when I unequip my hally, and immediately re-equip, does it go off my wrestling timer? Or does my timer still continue, but goes to my hally timer.

I think what nightshark is saying is this:
Hit with hally.........unequip...1...2...equip...........unequip...3...4.....swing(or whatever the time it takes will be)
Basically it resumes if you equip again?
Faust if you're around can you shed some light on this? We're all confusing each other.
Re: Is the pvp better now then before?
I'm gonna start running around with my halberd on my finger and my paperdoll pulled over my screen for mega fast equip/unequip. Watch out foo-suckas, comin' at you '98 style.
