Invulnerable Tag
NPCs never used to have the Invulnerable tag. Not only did this result in less clutter on the screen, but it also made NPC names appear the same as players. One fun thing this allowed was being able to disguise oneself like an NPC, by dressing like them.
Any way to remove the name tags so they are correct for the era?

The old dress like a vendor trick!
The tags might have been added before Nov 1999, in which case they would be sadly accurate to "the era".

Re: Invulnerable Tag
regarding player vendors, i recall them always having the invulnerable tag, which would mean that any invul npc should have them. but bankers and such were not made invulnerable until late in t2a, hence why they wouldnt have a tag. not all npcs are invul though and you could dress as an npc and fool people if they didnt click your paperdoll
a weird thing i have noticed with NPCs here is that they have fame and karma titles. if this was a part of t2a then it was certainly patched as i never remember an npc with a fame/karma title :s

Invulnerable tag is era accurate and has already been proven to be.

Re: Invulnerable Tag
Actually, the tags were taken out some time after T2A. From when player vendors were put in all the way until at least UOR or after, they always had the (invulnerable) tag.Ram wrote:NPCs never used to have the Invulnerable tag. Re: Invulnerable Tag
I distinctly remember there being no invulnerable tags. And I was very disappointed when they were added in. At first names were blue, then they were changed to yellow, and then even later the stupid invulnerable tag was displayed next to their names. I believe the tags themselves were not displayed until after Trammel.
I can't give the exact times from memory though, but maybe I can find them searching...

Re: Invulnerable Tag
Yellow hued names, some NPCs still blue, 2002: http://boards.powergamers.net/viewthread.php?tid=2402
Apparently no tags: "Yeah if the NPC's name is Yellow hued then they are invul, this is the same for Trammel and Felluca, I dont think there is anyway to get true black sandles anymore."
Shortly before the release of Trammel, Mar 9, 2000 - no invulnerable NPCs but stablemaster: http://update.uo.com/design_180.html
"Any shopkeeper that is currently [invulnerable] will lose that status except for stablemasters."
Stable masters became invulnerable, Sep 23 1999: http://www.uo.com/cgi-bin/newstools.pl?Article=979
Still looking...

Re: Invulnerable Tag
Invulnerability was, but the name tag is not.Faust wrote:Invulnerable tag is era accurate and has already been proven to be.
However, if both yellow and blue names existed in T2A, then cannot a choice be made for gameplay and aesthetics?
Re: Invulnerable Tag
A side note, the [tame] tag never used to show up next to the names of pets either. The way to tell a tame pet from a non tamed pet in T2A was simply by the color blue for tame and grey for not.
This also added in the dynamic of naming pets with npc sounding names.

1/29/98All tame animals will now have "(tame)" above their names (whether they have been renamed or not).
http://wiki.uosecondage.com/?title=1998_Patch_NotesTags, like [frozen] and [invulnerable] will now appear over those who are affected in those ways.
These all say "Over", when did they come "After"?
Re: Invulnerable Tag
When the the patch note refers to "over" the it refers to appearing overhead as part of, or above, the name of the creature (tamed was above while invulnerable was part of the name as seen in many screenshots)

and the demo.
Again, this has already been dished out in the past and it's era accurate. You are thinking way back before the t2a era during the dread lord pre-t2a days.

Here is a screenshot from era that was presented as evidence of this before we patched this in:

Re: Invulnerable Tag
Something was different during T2A at one point because I used to do this - dress up as an NPC and it worked. I'm sure it wasn't pre-T2A.
Even when the tags were added, I recall them not appearing unless All Names was used or the character was clicked on, otherwise you would just see the name. This included guild names too, and any other addition information like [tame]. Maybe that's the difference.
There were obviously different periods during T2A where the names were displayed differently, so how is it determined which style will be used? I just want to make sure before I spend too much time searching. For example, lets say I find some screen shots in the web archive that show only blue names and they are in the correct time period. Is it merely a matter of making a choice of which T2A era style is preferable? Is there a cutoff date? Or does The Second Age go from the official release, right up until the official release of Renaissance?
Here's one showing the tags appearing under the name when the character is clicked on (we know the character was clicked on because no other names are showing) from the T2A screen shots here http://www.uo.com/screens.html :

I'm thinking if you were to just run up to this group, only the names would show, and not the [invulnerable] tag. Of course, these will be difficult screen shots to find because usually when someone takes a screen shot they are already standing in the area, click on the subject, or use All Names to pull up names. To get a screen shot otherwise, it would have to be taken while on the run - PvP shots are probably where I should look, but even then most would have likely did an All Names before taking them.

Re: Invulnerable Tag
Its under the name, because Lord British (invulnerable) is too big to fit on one line.
