Question about unattended fishing

I know that unattended fishing from a boat is illegal while from land it is legal.

Would it be okay to fish from a boat in shallow water using a macro unattended? Can't seem to write an efficient macro for from-land fishing, while there's a great one posted for fishing from a boat(attended) in a different thread.

I've seen maybe 5 people at sea in 4 months of playing this shard.... if that helps. I have a GM fisherwoman. It doesn't get any more exciting. Fishing was recently nerfed for era accuracy so I hope you aren't expecting crazy income. 1 mib and 1 Tmap per hour if you are LUCKY. Roughly, that's 2500 gold+ per hour. A GM bard can be made in 3 days and can make that much in 10 minutes in some places. I find fishing to be too boring to watch and the occasional serpent too dangerous to leave unattended. If you are running your fishing macro while you watch a movie, pause the movie to deal with serpents, etc, it's not horrible. It is nice for that. But in 20 minutes or less you should be able to make the same amount from provoking. With double the mib and tmap pulls, I would recommend it as reasonable, fairly safe income, but not the way it is.

You're allowed to macro in shallow water, it's just deep water that you can't.

The general rule (not a hard rule) is that if you are within sight of the shore you are in shallow water. It is OK to unattend fishing there. Just make sure you are actually in shallow water.

If your macro is generating any type of item, and you did not have to provide an input resource (so crafting is okay), to create said item(s), then you are afk resource gathering.

Aye but with fishing i just thought you could drop the fish and it was ok, i see other bot boats going as well. So im definatly not the only person who did it.

And ofcourse im the first player unless someone has an account age greater then mine.

When you keep track of what you get per hour compared to what you got before the nerfing (ahem....era accurate correction...), fishing is crap. Yes, an mib is worth 2000 gold minimum. No, you don't need to fight anything to get it. But the most you will get no matter what will be 1 mib and 1 tmap/hour/gm fisher. 2500/hour??? That is nothing. So it isn't worth it to actually sit there and watch it. That's why people leave it on overnight. It is so mind-numbingly boring to watch.
I do understand why AFK fishing is illegal. Make 3 gm fishers and run them overnight and you make 7500 gold/hour. Multiply by, say 8 hours and that is 60000 gold. That is if you sell the mibs and tmaps at 2000/500 (which is EASY) THAT is worth it. But I only have one GM fisher. Staff can see if someone has 3 gm fishers on their accounts. Just make THAT illegal.

I think AFK fishing should be allowed but the spawn in the ocean should be tripled AT LEAST.

You know what? I run a Peacemaking/Fishing macro to avoid spawn. If I ACTUALLY see more than one creature, my macro will fail. They WILL get me. I could do 3 gm peace/fishers alternating peacemaking every 1.77 seconds or whatever. That would probably keep me alive.
With RAZOR's macro abilities and 3 accounts allowed, there will always be the people that can program well enough to automate everything.

Owning every castle and having mountains of rares can't be that fun after a while anyway. If there is no struggle to accumulate wealth, the game gets boring fast. Look at the other shards.....

I guess I'm saying:
Increase ocean spawn
Check accounts for triple fishermen, then watch THOSE accounts
Let the roughness of the ocean weed out the good fishermen from the bad

I think an important thing people are forgetting is that having Mib's pull up items much less frequently should also make the items more valuable eventually.

Of course that's also dependent on how many people own and decorate their homes, and as someone pointed out, how many people rolled extra fishermen to offset the change.

Of course 100 fishing takes some time anyways.
