I am not disagreeing with what your saying.. I'm not saying Events hurt the server. I'm not saying people only, purely log in for Events (although knowing when an event occurs I sometimes only log in for that event, and log out after it's over, a lot of people do this)BlackFoot wrote:The argument that players only log on to play events and they would be playing in the real world instead if there weren't events is just untrue. It continues to be untrue and will always be. Events draw people Into the world, not out of it.
I want real examples of players who only log onto events, only play events and would otherwise be playing in the real world if events didn't exist.
The truth is there is not a single person.
I know you don't know me very well or what I spend my time in game doing, but Im a huge fan of group pvp, on the field. If there are no server events this is in no way going to some how alter what I enjoy doing when Im online or change the way I play. I would expect the same from just about every player who ever logged into UO.
Removing events is in no way going to force people to do anything or change the way people play. More events = more players logging on to spend time in the real game.
I like the Events..
However whether you want to believe it or not, Events don't help natural game-play 'field PvP'.
Here me out..
If the average player wants to participate in PvP, and they know there is an event every hour on the hour, they will not seek out PvP amongst the 'Risk Environment' where they may lose their items, they will simply wait for a 'Risk Free' opportunity to avail to partake.
If the average player is unable to get on and join a PvP Event at anytime throughout the day, they will still have that desire for player vs. player interaction (because like you said, it won't change how one wants to spend ones time)
Where do you think they will be forced to find this consentual Player vs Player action.. On the field.. Thus increasing the random PvP occurrences. (Which has actually happened since the Events have been cut down. There is more random PvP going on around Brittania right now, believe it or not.)
