New Bard Character.

Post by gibbygano »

Working on a bard, this is the current template.

Magery
Eval
Musicianship
Provocation
Hiding
Meditation
Resist

Any thoughts? He is mainly just going to be a farming toon.

Not trying to be combative just confirming. Why do I want wrestling over hiding for a farming bard?

because you can recall through attack with wrestle, hiding will just get you tracked and purple potioned.

Just my two cents. As a mage bard it's really an advantage to have wrestling, regardless of whether you're using it just for farming. PKs won't care. There will always be sticky situations where you have to heal, recall, etc. And without wrestling, you'd be interrupted a lot. In my opinion wrestling > hiding in this build. I have a dexxer bard with hiding and provocation. I hardly get to use hiding because I am provoking (there is 10 second delay). And since you're a mage you can always cast invisibility. There are some situations where hiding is useless because you are boxed in with very aggro monsters coming at you (can't break line of sight).

If doing tmaps only, Hiding > wrestle.

If you plan on being social with your bard, wrestle >.

My guy is tmap only and hiding is prefered.

My bard has hiding instead of wrestling, and I agree with everyone above whole-heartedly. PICK WRESTLE! You'll rarely be able to escape a PK without it, and it's OH SO embarrassing when you get pinned next to a wall by a 1999 era AI controlled monster, with nothing to do except wail like a little baby girl until all you heal regs run out.

My bard has everything yours does, except I have wrestling and no eval int. Eval int is not necessary for a bard, IMO.

I like being able to drop monsters quickly and not have to wait for them to kill themselves, and dont always want to cast EV on everything!

This was actually the same thought I had when I first made my bard. I then realized that you are severely nerfed for spell damage without it. Though I am primarily a voker, I would like the ability to deal decent damage via nukes if a situation gets rough. Cast 3 ebolts to achieve the same effect as 1 didn't seem reg/mana efficient.

I've considered dropping hiding for eval for that reason, to be honest. I think everyone agrees that wrestling, purely from a defense standpoint, is necessary.

i have a tmap guy with
mage/med/wrestle
cart/LP/music/prov

idk why i would need hiding on a bard character? have had 0 trouble doing t-hunts or LPing in dungeons. wrestle will save you from so many deaths.
<green> grats pink and co. .... the 3 of you f---ing scrubs together can blow up a bard. IMPRESSIVE
