Pre-Vendor Bowcraft/Fletching Market Research

Post by johttenn »

I'm thinking of putting up a bowyer/fletching vendor and just wondered if there would be much of a market for that here at this time.

I've come across some other bow vendors; however, they charge way too much for what they provide.

For example
bow: 120 ea
x-bow: 180 ea
heavy x-bow: 290 ea
1) I could sell these 1/2 the price and be quite happy; however, would anyone be interested in an archery vendor? I'd need to make enough to make it worthwhile to keep the vendor opened.

2) What should arrows sell for? I literally have more feathers than I can use :)

3) Would the items have to be marked gm or would "exceptional" be enough for buyers?

Please let me know, and thanks for the help.

I'm always interested in a new bow vendor. In terms of arrow/bolt prices, I wouldn't charge more than 3g per.. more like 2g per (vendor pricing). I'd prefer to buy GM over exceptional.. I know the dmg bonus is the same (+4), but I believe increased skill makes for increased durability... though correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd be especially happy if your vendor was near the Vesper mini-mall area.. the last real GM bows I could buy from there came from chumbuckets thieving vendor! (but damn the prices couldn't be beat!)

My house is right by chumbuckets, so expect a vendor there soon to at least test out the market. My bows will be extremely cheap; however, will be exceptional until I finish gm'ing by bowyer.

Vendor should be up either this weekend or early next week :)

Got about 20k arrows sitting in the bank, will put the bulk of them on the vendor when I'm done training archery.

Nice! If you need some extra feathers to make bolts instead of arrows (love me some bolts), I got around 10k you could have.

I appreciate that, I'll make you all the bolts you need, provide the feathers and they'll be dirt cheap :)

I'll pm you this weekend or early next week. :)

I was always under the impression that GM just gave you a better chance of not failing, as well as the makers mark.

this here is my vendor and from my scouting is currently the cheapest in game, plus i also sell bulk buys at a discount for loyalty customers.
secondly there is absolutely no difference b/n exceptional and gm quality except for the crafters tag.

thirdly why undersell yourself. the prices are marked at as appropriately, especially if you consider how quick one can take down two earth elementals, 1 air elemental or any other creature. and the time investment you have put into creating a crafter!!!

On the topic of bowcraft/fletching, about how many logs does it take to GM the skill? I just started choppin' wood. Want to know how many weeks I should sit here in the forest, killin' trees and contributing to global warming.
