It's about 2 weeks so far...

Post by Impit »

I've been playing on this server for about 2 weeks so far. I've spent a good amount of time macroing and getting skills up so I can head out and farm some gold.

My first impression was that this seemed like the old UO I remember except on hard mode. The few places that I've gone and farmed regularly had a group of reds recall in, scout around and then recall out. Reminds me of the old days where you always had to be on watch, but I remember in the t2a days that people always went in a group to farm/dungeon crawl and that it was more of an adventure rather than mindless grinding.

So far, I have yet to see this...

Is it that I just don't have that much experience on this server or is this server similar to modern day UO where everyone pretty much does their own thing and the sense of community is something of the past?

I'd like to think that there are guilds on this server that keep the old UO tradition alive with player run style towns, guild events and are active/adventurous. And no, I'm not refering to a strictly PK guild...that's not my thing.

And PS: is there still room around to place a small house? I'm almost able to afford one and haven't gone out looking yet...

you can place a small almost anywhere you want still. house deeds are newbied, so keep it in your main pack and you wont lose it (unless ur red).

The hunting in groups thing does happen. Every friday morning theres usually a group that goes out and does a dungeon crawl. beyond that, you gotta just find a group of friends.

Multiclienting makes soloing many things much easier, so yeah unfortunately it's less common to see people doing things like pvming together etc. you can have one of everything on this shard, so it's easy to be self sufficient..probably too easy:(

That said, it does happen, and it's probably just about finding some friends to play with, or finding a decent guild. There are guild events that happen also.

There are a ton of places for smalls, and I think the population has dipped a bit too, so maybe even room for other houses, or just buy one from someone.

Come to dungeon Shame at 6:30pm PST today and you're sure to run into some people you can group up with in the future. This game isn't at it's best when you play alone.

I'll definitely take a look around for some house spots once I save up the money. A small house is all I'm gonna be able to afford for the time being since I'm still in that broke-ass-newb stage.

Oh, and if anyone belongs to a fairly large active guild and looking for someone active, friendly, experienced and fairly good looking [/cough], PM me on here.

I just got a house and was running around in its area and found a good bit of fking awesome spots to place a house. Pretty sure 1 of them would even fit a LB or patio. But, there were like 10 small spots... and some of them were in the most ideal location.

PM if you want this information.
<Bongy> runnin around on mares actin like yall dont die the only reason crew can run like that is the real pvpers allow it

to your question about community i think one reason there isn't quite the community that there could be is because people can have multiple accounts. I say this even though i am a fan of there being multiple accounts. I like that i can have one character training something afk while i take my other character and go hunting.

But this takes away from community because when i want to spar to raise skills I don't need to find another player to spar nor do i have to join a guild to spar. I can use multiple accounts to raise skills. I can have two characters spar while a third heals them while i have a tailor making fancy shirts. It's a much more lonely experience but it's also much more efficient.
