Blade Spirit and EV
Aren't both BS and EV supposed to break boxes that are not locked down? This currently isn't the case from some recent testing that has been conducted.

It currently does? You're correct, it shouldn't. I remember the trick of applying a weak poison to yourself to avoid getting DPed.TheEttinKing wrote:Poison should not overlap other poisons is my thought.
And yes I also believe EV/BS should break boxes.. gl on finding info on that

I thought NOTHING broke boxes in T2A, actually.

It may be but my thoughts are that it shouldn't and at one point and time it did not over lap cause i called and asked a buddy and he told me the same thing i said might not have been in this era maybe it was earlier or later but it happened.Hicha wrote:This was proven awhile back to be era accurate.nightshark wrote:It currently does? Re: Blade Spirit and EV
Poison was fixed in mid to late '99 with in our target time frame.
Please refer to the '99 patch notes for this information.

Re: Blade Spirit and EV
Monsters (EV and BS included) break furniture based on their strength, which varies. They are known to break boxes, but I think their range of strength surrounds the point at which they can break furniture.
Any further info would be appreciated, we have very little to go on regarding this mechanic.

I remember(90% sure) taming White Wyrms in T2A and using crates to block them from hitting me. So once I get a tamer I shouldn't try this here?Derrick wrote:Monsters (EV and BS included) break furniture based on their strength, which varies. Re: Blade Spirit and EV
Monster's breaking blocking obstacles was added in late '98. This was later disabled for some reason in late '99 but past our target time frame to replicate. This feature was re-enabled sometime after the UOR era. Here is the patch note that disabled it in December '99.
The current process for breaking the blocking obstacles seems very relaxed from what I remember. All monsters should be picking up and destroying any movable obstacle that blocks their pathway. There are some here that don't seem to break anything at all.Dec 21 Publish Dec 22 1999 3:06PM CST
Monsters will no longer destroy objects that block their path. This is a temporary change and will be changed back.
Re: Blade Spirit and EV
In my test case the EV is not breaking a small red box that is not locked down and has nothing inside it. This is even after buffing the EV with strength and taunting it with harm. I think Faust showed above that this mechanic is not working correctly.

Re: Blade Spirit and EV
The breaking feature definitely works... it's just based on an odd process that seems very strange to me from my past experiences with it. Pretty much only the upper tier monsters here will destroy obstacles such as Balrons, Dragons, etc... Here is the original patch note that was put into effect back in '98.
This patch even mentions animals being able to destroy items and this definitely isn't referring to apets since they are excluded from being able to break stuff in the list above... something that is definitely not present on here. I am pretty sure any npc should pretty much be destroying these objects and should probably destroy them one per tick if it's stacked items.Housing Update Phase 3 Dec 21 1998 1:48PM - http://wiki.uosecondage.com/?title=1998_Patch_Notes wrote: Monsters will pick up and destroy items that block them as follows:
The item must be moveable.
The creature cannot be a pet.
The item cannot be locked down.
The item must be impassable.
Monsters can destroy an item anytime.
Human NPCs must be attacking someone to destroy an item.
Animals must be attacking someone to destroy an item.
The creatures will destroy stacked items one at a time.
Re: Blade Spirit and EV
During part of the T2A era you could put flour sacks on the ground with red boxes over them to prevent any monster from breaking through your barrier (this bug was discovered as a response to not being able to use red boxes on their own to prevent monsters from getting to you). I can't vouch for dates on this, but it was definitely during a T2A timeframe, may be a bit to early for our shard though

Wonder when the change took place that made flour sacks passable instead of impassable.
There seems to be some mention of it back in October '98 before the change that allowed npc's to destroy items that are blocking their pathway.
