The purpose of dex?

Post by Dashiva »

Ok so it's been since '99 since I played UO...
I've read on the weapon attack speed table that your current stamina is used now to calculate weapon speed instead of Dex.

So what exactly does dex do now?

Determines your maximum stamina :))

It also affects bandage applying time (looks like only unmodified DEX, since time is pretty set in stone, whether you cursed, blessed or under effect of Greater Agility potion).

Also affect skills, relying on DEX, while they are less, than 100.0

higher stamina (granted by higher dexterity) allows you to swing your weapon faster.

If im not mistaken weapon swing speed was based off your current stamina in this era, not your total.

edit: I should really read the whole post first, guess you knew that last part. but yep, bandages and swing timers. The bandaid timers aren't increased too much here.

Alright, thanks.
Really looking forward to getting back into UO. My friend and I always reminace about the old days. After realizing how atrocious a timesink WoW was (after raiding 3 years), it will be nice to get back to my roots so to speak.

Dex is not that important. As far as I know, it doesn't actually effect the heal timer. The swing timer is almost irrelevant because, under most circumstances, ppl who pvp play tank mages and only go for insta hit anyway. The stamina thing is somewhat important against maces, but if you have food and refresh pots it's not that important.

ive actually found a 4-5 second difference in bandages between 25 dex and 100 dex. 25 taking 15 seconds and 100 taking only 10s

Stamina will be more important once running stamina loss goes in which will likely be soon.

Dexterity definately affects your heal timer. Since most chars with healing have high dexterity, it hasn't been a big topic of discussion.
