I believe shadowmire cost millions in boards/ore. It was actually a massive stimulus for the newb community.MatronDeWinter wrote:I have never once heard an actual number (of resources, gold ect) paid for these addons? Can someone enlighten me on what the cost may be?
I don't think anyone should be throwing around "we paid for this" until everyone has had the chance to evaluate the "cost".

For our dock arena, we paid roughly 10,000 boards + supplied everything that is/was locked down on them

Here is a prime example, 10,000 boards? Really?
Are you telling me that you paid (at most) 45k, for a giant custom PvP arena.
How does a giant custom PvP arena cost less than a nice halberd?
Even with this (what I see as a) relatively low price, T^B (at the time) deserved the arena, they were an active guild, who did things with the comminuty. Not like the "But we hold guild only resist sessions" guilds of today. However, T^B is pretty much gone now, who is paying the monthly upkeep for these addons?
This seems more reasonable, but provides another question (and not to single out your guild, others are guilty of this as well). If a guild with crazy addons leaves, should their addons stay? In once case here, a whole new guild took over the land of a guild that left, and then had something added on to it??marmalade wrote:our arena cost at least 100k boards i think. not sure though. you sure it wasnt 10k boards per tile?

Re: Motion to strike town add ons for Kingdom of Ascalon
The dock arena was more like 100k boards.
It was a pretty massive effort.

Re: Motion to strike town add ons for Kingdom of Ascalon
It was a typo matron, I apologize. It was 100,000. Jin, Myself, and Senses collected the boards for the docks, & the boards

Re: Motion to strike town add ons for Kingdom of Ascalon
well the only addon that remained after el cartel let their houses decay was the road. we didnt use the fact that we had a road (which we didnt pay for) to justify getting an arena. whether we keep the road or not is a different matter. el cartel were careless enough to let their town decay after paying an obscene cost for something that is purely aesthetic, and we built our town around it.MatronDeWinter wrote: This seems more reasonable, but provides another question (and not to single out your guild, others are guilty of this as well). to answer your question (with my own opinion of course), if that land had become occupied by anything less than a guild town of the same size/player base that paid for it, the road should have been removed.

Add-ons, who gives about add-ons? Really seems to be some personal issues being vented here, you sure this thing is entirely about add-ons?

I actually discussed add-ons with a staff member once before, I can't quite recall who but it may have been Braden. Don't quote me on that. Anyway, whoever it was informed me that the ACE stablemaster, for example, cost TT and his mob something in excess of 200k gold to begin with, plus around 150k boards, and a monthly upkeep of around 100-150k gold, or something like that. So yeah, they're not cheap.
