That being said, what has it done to the freeshard community?

Have you not seen what the creator has been able to do on hybrid? I cant for the life of me remember his name but hes got many rpvs on uomives. Its really crazy, he runs like 5 chars all synching and xhealing, looting boats, the lots. I saw someone use it first hand and thought it was just way to wierd to use.

How many players do you know that have the time, knowledge, and experience to develop a full UO-playing neural network bot client?

None?

Exactly. You guys seriously overestimate the client's cheating potential. You can't just download the client from RunUO.com, go watch TV, and come back to a chest full of loot your client went out and collected from slain enemies while you were gone.

The PlayUO client has been very influential on the way that UO has been played, generally for the worse. A good example is a feature that actually puts a line that follows the path that your opponent has taken (it can be set in various ways). The line essentially ruins the skill of hiding as it conveniently stops where the hidden person is. That is just one way that PlayUO impacts gameplay.

I've never seen that in my PlayUO. I've never seen that in anybody's PlayUO.

i don't wanna discourage you from playing here but if 3rd party programs (important keyword here) such as PlayUO is keeping you from playing here then well, i don't really know -- not my issue i guess so nvm..

As for you 'assuring' us what you want to do with PlayUO there might be tons of other people who 'because they can do it' start doing stupid shit with it...

If i remember, some of the things you could do would be like 'Loot' where you could loot nearby corpses for the best items without even really lookin?

PlayUO has an item appraiser/autolooter that only works with AoS. Sure, it's possible to make an autolooter via the plugin interface, but if I wanted the client to play the game for me, I wouldn't play the game at all.

I don't really care if they decide to allow PlayUO, but that just means i'll get to exploit it as well..

Suil it's not your I am worried about. I was in a few guilds on gamers as you know that had members using plug-ins. I was not a happy PvPer when I found out All it takes is 1 guy to get his hand on a plug-in and use it before it spreads to others.

What bothered me the most is when I found out a few guys I had known for years used the plug-ins OR never complained when their guildmates used it.

As soon as I found out in both guilds, I left.

I guess some people would rather win at all costs than have a good competitive fair fight

Yeah, I've seen my fair share of plugin use over the years on Gamers. It's funny how many people were cheating when there were only about three active plugin developers. That shit spread like wildfire.

I do write my own plugins, but they are nothing 'hackish'...things like agility and strength pot counters, for instance.
