No there is no correlation between your skill total and gain, only your level in that particular skill. Also skills marked down will always drop with a gain, 700 or not, which is incorrect but presently does guaranty that the cap does not slow gain. We will be fixing this eventually so that skills only atrophy naturally or with a gain if marked down, there will still be no restraint on gaining at cap.

Really? I've never experienced this, and I was actually paying attention to it recently. I'm working my tamer who is in the 690's in total skill points, and with several skills marked down. I have been working taming and gaining just fine but I haven't seen any skills drop yet, so I'm not sure the above is 100% correct. Could this have already been fixed? Or maybe only applies to certain skills or something? I have no clue really, just wanted to point out that what's described above isn't what I've experienced, the skills seem to be dropping fine when they should (at 700 cap) but I haven't seen any drop before that point.

Aye! I think I might need friends first to have fun running around as a newb :D

Yeah, it doesn't matter to me either way. I usually lock every skill except the 7 I want to GM :)
Our shenanigans are cheeky and fun.. which makes them not shenanigans at all really.

Indeed, I do most of my griefing with 2x 50.0s.
