Most can buy leather from NPCs.
I dont think you will sell much.
If you are new, judging by your post count, I would recommend gathering boards or ingots, as those are only bought from players by players, and you will make a decent amount of cash in just a few hours with one character.

ill buy lots of leather i need to gm my tailor so keep getting tons and ill gladly pay 4gp each im too lazy =)
