DUngeon lighting and Razor

Post by Edie Brickell »

I thought Razor had a function in it to brighten dungeons automatically. Am I crazy or missing it because I sure don't see it anywhere...

Go to the General Tab, look for the Filters - and check "Light Levels"

Speaking of which, it wouldn't be era accurate but there is a concept on how to make light levels server side by 'hiding' people you shouldn't be allowed to see, if it interests anyone.

I didn't bother posting details because I think its too un-T2A-ish and would confused too many people ^_^

No, I mean you could make server side code that says "if you are in an area that should be dark (regardless of whether it is or not duet o razor) and you have no light source and/or no night sight...then anyone more than 4 tiles away from you is hidden/stealthed.

Its the same concept about how a GM can appear to just one player. Others come around and see no GM because he's hidden.

But as you can imagine, it would be very confusing to people if they weren't aware of it. Their razor would have a filter and max light but they'd be getting attacked and not see anyone.

Lol, actually, this would hurt the orcs because orc grunts dont' use any magic (meaning no night sight unless we buy potions).

And as I believe I stated, I actually don't like the idea because it'll confuse too many people ^_^

Razor allows negotiation with the server... you can use code on the server to force razor to allow/disallow certain features, such as light filters, looping macro's etc.

Only problem with this is that everyone has to be using razor and they must have the option in razor to negotiate with the server checked or they will be booted.

it isn't accurate and there isn't anyway they will implement it, besides only advantage is a slightly higher value on night sight items/potions?
